Human Ghost Display

Filexd under: Crafts,Decor,Halloween Decor,Home,Novelty,Toys/Games — Tags: , , , — jane @

When I first saw these I just fell in love. These guys are so creepy and in the right place during our Halloween party they will scare the living daylights out of my guests. Unfortunately, then I noticed their size. They are only 5′ tall. That won’t scare anyone unless they’re little kids. 5′ is usually not all that scary. I don’t mean any offense to anyone who is that size, it’s just that I can’t imagine a grown man being too frightened by it. I stand at 5’10” and I’m sorry, but that is not going to do anything to me. I guess I could put it on a box, so it appears bigger. Of course then the other thing that pissed me off was the way they advertise them. I thought that you got 3 of them for $129 since the item is called Human Ghost Display and show 3 in the picture, but I should have known better. I’m not sure it’s worth that if they don’t even make a sound, but I think I may be able to make them myself. Off to the drawing board! If you’re not the crafty type then you can buy your single ghost here.

Skull Chocolate

Filexd under: Food & Candy,kitchen,Misc.,Novelty — Tags: , , , , , , , — jane @

So, I think I have established how much I love skulls, but I’m not sure how much I have expressed my love of chocolate. Of course it must be dark chocolate because I am a rather dark minded person, but if no dark is available I can be talked into the milk variety and I have been known to partake in a nice white chocolate now and then. Bond Street Chocolate in New York has now made it possible for me to marry my two favorite things and have skull shaped dark chocolate. How awesome is that? Order your box here.

Halloween Crystals

It’s a little early for Halloween stuff, but the stores are starting to put it out and I just get so excited that I can’t wait. These little magnetic Halloween crystals can hang from anything metal and will give you that little hint of spooky before you really start decorating. You get three ghosts or bats for $39. A little steep, but oh so fun. They won’t cause anyone to scream or lose their lunch, but might be worth a little macabre giggle. Get yours here.

Circling Ghosts

Today I found an awesome new decoration for your front yard. They are Circling Ghosts that hang from a tree attached to a fan. I really want to do this one, but the trees in our front yard are not even close to big enough. I’m going to have to put Scary Hubby on it. He’s a technical genius. I know he’ll find a way to make it happen. I can just imagine how great they would be floating around our tombstones. If you want to make it just click HERE. It sounds pretty easy if you already have a big tree in your yard. The only thing would be if you don’t have an old ceiling fan lying around. I did see some really cheap ones (around $20) at Home Depot a while back. I bet if you look around or ask your friends you can probably find one. This guy bought the ghosts at KMart, but I would probably make these myself. I’ve made many ghosts over the years, so I think I can handle these. Do me a favor? If you are going to make this, make sure the ghosts are a realistic size. I hate mini ghosts and other crappy props like that. There is nothing scary about a teeny tiny 12″ ghost. Anyway, I’m so excited to do this one! I just hope we can figure it out in time for this year. Always looking for new ways to freak out the neighbors. Do you think they’d mind if I left them up all year?

Ophelia

Okay, I know I said I was done with the sappy stuff, but I just have to sneak in another post. We were forced to put our poor little Lucy to sleep since she was in so much pain. The vet tried everything, but she was just to far along. We will miss her dearly. Not being one to sit around without multiple cats in the house, I insisted that we go and pick out a new kitten at the Humane Society. Scary Hubby had a hard time with this one. Lucy was our first baby that we got together when we were just dating, so she meant a lot to us. Scary Hubby was very attached to her and so was I. I just like to move on quicker. I know a kitten will take our minds off Lucy. Plus we had Morticia and it would be nice for her to grow up with another kitten. We had every intention of getting a Gomez for our Morticia, but the boys were all so wild. I really wanted a snuggle cat and we all fell in love with this little black and white girl. Well, we couldn’t name her Gomez, so I came up with Ophelia. If you remember, Ophelia was Morticia’s sister in the original Addams Family TV show from the 60s’. She was the goofy reverse version of Morticia and I always liked her. So, please welcome little Ophelia into the Scary Jane family.

Skull Chair

Filexd under: Furniture,Misc.,Outdoors — Tags: , , , , , , — jane @

You know those stupid white plastic chairs that everyone used to have out on their patios? They started out all pretty and white and then after one rain storm you ended up with a dirt puddle on the seat that was impossible to get clean. The next year you’d buy some more, since they were so cheap, and it would happen again. Year after year you’d do this until it finally got through your thick skull that they were crap. They even tried making them in dark green and other colors thinking that would hide the dirt puddle, but no still gross. A reader sent me the link to this awesome plastic Skull Chair. It’s actual name is “Souviens Toi Que Tu Vas Mourir” (Remember That You Will Die). Not sure how it gets that name. It appears to be a twist on the old crappy plastic chairs. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I looked they do not seem to be for sale or not yet anyway. I would actually buy this, but it would stay nicely inside where no dirt puddles could ever ruin it. I have a feeling this little guy is going to be expensive if it ever hits the market, so I’m not holding my breath. Anyway, this Skull Chair is going to be a part of  “New Wave, the new French domestic landscape” exhibition in the furniture fair in Milan at the Nouvelle Vague at the French Cultural Centrer – Palazzo Delle Stelline – Corso Magento 63 20123 Milan on 12 to 17 April 2011.

*Thanks Scott for the link!
