Awesome Creepy Cake

Filexd under: Art,Food & Candy,Holidays,kitchen — Tags: , , , , , , , — jane @ 10:14 am

For some time now I’ve been collecting photos of creepy cakes. I recently came across one that I completely love. I can’t seem to find out who made it or where the picture came from originally, but it is beyond awesome. I’ve seen many different skull cakes and loved every single one of them, but this one’s different. This stopped me in my tracks. It is so realistic looking! It’s really a work of art. Could you imagine cutting it open and finding red velvet cake inside? Yummy and bloody! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find me this cake. Or rather find me who made it. I have a big birthday coming in 7 months and I need this cake. No, I won’t tell you which one, so don’t ask!

Goth Pillows

Filexd under: Accessories,Art,Bed & Bath,Decor,Furniture,Halloween Decor,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , , , , , — jane @ 10:45 pm

I bet you guys didn’t know that in my house it’s Halloween every day? Okay, well maybe you did. Let’s just say that when I was decorating it I was inspired by The Addams Family. The TV show, not the movie. I always wished that it was in color though, so I could see what colors they used. What I wouldn’t do for some of the stuff from that set! Anyway, my colors ended up being mostly black and blue. Well, I found these great Goth Pillows online, but unfortunately they are in green and black. They were created by WebSpinstress and are just so deliciously creepy. Even though I would love to see them in blue and black I have a feeling they would not be as cool. The green satin has rips and holes in it like it’s old and worn. The whole effect has a zombie feel to it and I think that would be lost if it came in other colors. It does come in a copper color, but that doesn’t work as well for me. I’ll just have to buy them in green and find a way to fit them in. You can too for the low price of $49.99 for the set of two. There are only a limited number available, so hurry if you want them for yourself.

Skull Candy Cane T-Shirt

Filexd under: Apparel,Fashion,Food & Candy,Holidays — Tags: , , , , , , , — jane @ 5:11 pm

I remember when I was a little kid, every year I got a fancy new dress and a Christmas t-shirt that I could wear to school. I was not a frilly kind of girl, so I was not particularly thrilled to wear a ruffly dress. Of course, now that I have my own daughter what do I do? I make her wear a ruffly dress every Christmas. She hates them, just like I did, and I swore I would never do that. Amazing what happens when you grow up. I know now that I was forced into those dresses for my grandparent’s pleasure and that’s why I do it too. Anyway, back to what I was talking about. Just slap me when I go off topic. I wish that they made t-shirts like this Skull Candy Cane one when I was a kid. I was rather odd in general and would have loved this shirt back then. Well, now I can buy whatever I want to wear and I believe I will be choosing this one as my Christmas shirt this year. Now I just have to find my Christmas dress. Scary Daughter will be wearing the obligatory red poofy dress and I will be wearing something a la Morticia.

Upside Down Christmas Tree

Filexd under: Crafts,Decor,Holidays,Misc.,Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , — jane @ 10:50 am

Years ago when I was in college, in the San Francisco area, there was a very cool nightclub that I practically lived in. To me, it was perfect. It was as if it was designed just for me. Of course all of the other people that went there probably thought the same thing. If I remember correctly it was basically just a big square warehouse, but inside was this amazing space. There were heavy red and black velvet curtains everywhere that created these wonderful intimate spaces. There was no large open dance floor. You would just walk from room to room and socialize with people sitting on the purple velvet couches listening to music. Every room was a little different and it made it feel like you were in your own really cool apartment. The music was great and the punk/goth vibe was just amazing. Goth culture wasn’t really a big thing yet, but it had that feeling. Odd things hung on the velvet walls and from the ceiling. There were so many things to look at. Nothing was normal there. I loved it! In one of the many alcoves hung an upside down Christmas tree painted black and decorated with weird doll parts and broken ornaments. I loved that tree and liked to sit below and look at it. I vowed that one day I would hang my tree upside down. So far, I have not done this. I think mainly because I am quite traditional when it comes to the holidays. I may use a lot of black and blue in my decorating, but the way I celebrate has always been more traditional. This was a horrible year and it will be our family’s first Christmas without my Mom, so I’m not really into it like I usually am. I’ve been doing things very different so far and I think it’s time to finally try the upside down tree. I know you can buy stupid fake trees that are made to be upside down, but I don’t want that. I want to take our actual tree and hang it upside down from the ceiling. Scary Hubby seems to be concerned about how to do this, but he always figures these things out. He’s used to finding ways to execute my weird ideas. I know I am by no means the first to do this, so if anyone has any tips they would like to pass along…

Skull Pillow

Filexd under: Accessories,Bed & Bath,Decor,Halloween Decor — Tags: , , , , , , , — jane @ 10:01 am

Skull PillowI took my usual trip to Target to check out their Halloween stuff. Unfortunately I was a little late this year, so a lot of the cool stuff I had seen online had sold out. Drat! I did make one great purchase, but it’s not on the Target website strangely. So you obviously can’t order it. You’ll just have to go into the store. It’s made specifically for Target, so I doubt you can buy it anywhere else. I took a not so good picture of it, so you can at least see what it looks like. It’s a very short pile velvet and then the skull part is raised with a higher pile. Contrary to the picture it is very black. I had to lighten the pic so the skull would show up. If you look at it in a certain light you can’t even see the skull. It is solid black on the back, so if you ever fall out of your skull mood just turn it over. There are a lot of skull pillows out there, but I really like the simplicity of this one. They also had a white pillow with Halloween words written all over it like scary, boo, halloween and stuff like that in different fonts. It’s cute, but specifically Halloween so I didn’t want it. Both pillows cost $12.99 each, so I quickly snapped up two of the Skull Pillows for my house.

Panther Sofa

Filexd under: Art,Decor,Furniture,Nature,Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 3:41 pm

Panther SofaPanther SofaWhile I was away many people continued to email me scary things that they would come across. Thanks so much for sticking with me! For those that didn’t… well, they can just suck it!

My favorite thing that was forwarded to me was this Panther Sofa. It was designed by italian Master Craftsman Rodolfo Rocchetti of Tappezzeria Rocchetti. Check out his website for other odd pieces. I absolutely need this sofa! It’s so obnoxious and creepy. The only thing I would maybe change is instead of crushed velvet I’d want regular velvet. Don’t remember what that’s called, but you know what I mean. I do question the placement of the chain however. Are you supposed to sit on it, because having a chain up my butt is not what I am into. Not sure if it is removable or not. It might be handy if you need to detain someone though. For you animal lovers, don’t worry, no real panthers were used in the making of this sofa. I tried to find a price, but no luck. If one of you were to maybe buy this for me I might just be willing to rethink the chain up the butt scenario. Ewww… never mind.

Spider Hat

Filexd under: Apparel,Art,Decor,Fashion,Halloween Decor,Nature — Tags: , , , , , , , — jane @ 7:01 pm

Spider HatI, like many women, love hats. I obsessively buy them thinking I will look fabulous in them and then often times don’t have a place to wear them. The fancier the better. Let’s face it though. How many places can you wear an elaborate hat to? I have now found this fantastically creepy Spider Hat that I just have to buy. Unfortunately it’s $145, so it will take a little convincing to get Scary Hubby to agree that I need it. Luckily he loves when I wear a hat, so it shouldn’t be too hard. Plus, all of my hats look really good displayed in our house. So if I never find a day to wear it besides Halloween I can say it’s just part of the house decor.

Bitten Choker

Filexd under: Fashion,Jewelry — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 6:45 pm

Bitten ChokerI am a huge fan of chokers. Necklaces are nice, but there’s something about a choker especially a velvet choker that I just love. I am forever in search of the perfect vampire bite choker. In other words a choker that looks like a vampire took a bite out of your neck. I don’t know how or why I got so obsessed with this. Maybe it’s because there’s so many versions available out there, but none of them quite do it for me. It’s not like I have some secret desire to be bitten by a vampire or even become one. If they were real I would have absolutely no desire to be one. I once had a dream when I was much younger that I was just turned into a vampire. I woke up in a cold sweat and it took a few minutes for me to realize it wasn’t true. Up until that point I was just horrified at even the thought. Anyway, there I go rambling on again. I found this really cool Bitten Choker that I really like. Probably the coolest I have seen. Unfortunately I can only seem to find it in a UK store. I swear! They have the best stuff over there. It’s just not fair.

Blood Pillow

Filexd under: Bed & Bath — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 4:39 pm

Blood Puddle PillowDo you like to play jokes on people? Do you have a sick mind like I do? If you can’t handle a little bit of fun in your day, then just go away and do not return to Scary Jane. You will not like it here. For those of you that stuck around, thank goodness you have a sense of humor. I just needed to clear out the riff raff. Anyway, is this the greatest pillow ever or what? This here is what you call a Blood Puddle Pillow. It was designed by Keetra Dixon and made of silk velvet and batting. Imagine the fun you could have with this thing. Plus you can get in a good nap, too. Of course the screams when people found you would obviously wake you up, so maybe it’s not good for a nap. Just one problem. Where do I get one?

Coffin Couch

Filexd under: Furniture — Tags: , , , — jane @ 4:15 pm

If you are a coffin lover then here are two to die for. The Coffin Couch on the left is made from an actual coffin! It can be custom made and sells for $3500 and is also available in a chair. The Closing Coffin Couch on the right can also be used as a table and is available in purple, red or black velvet and also sells for $3500. My question is: When was the last time you were at a funeral and thought, “Hey lets pop that sucker open and have a seat!”? I know I claim to be the queen of all things scary, but I’m not sure about this. At first I thought it was totally cool. The more I thought about it, though, the creepier it got. It’s one thing to sit in it I guess, but can you imagine lying down on the closing one to watch your favorite television show and it slams shut? I have to admit it would be great for a lazy vampire. He could place it right in front of his television. When it’s time for bed just lie down and close it up. When you wake up just open and turn on the tube. So, if you have any vampire friends this may just be the perfect gift. It would take a big bite out of your wallet, I admit, but wouldn’t it be worth it? Since you bought them such a nice gift, he might be less likely to take a bite out of you! Closing Coffin CouchCoffin Couch
