Vampires & Werewolves

Filexd under: Apparel,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 4:56 pm

Vampire Werewolf T-shirtToday is T-Shirt Tuesday and I have a very important t-shirt to present to all of you. Why Can’t Vampires & Werewolves Just Get Along? is an age old question that must be openly discussed. To trace their history is a long and difficult process. There were recently a series of three documentaries that addressed this very issue called Underworld that I suggest you see. They were brilliantly produced. The movies portrayed a very realistic view of what has gone on between the werewolves and vampires since the beginning. Unfortunately they do not offer any answer to the problem, but maybe by watching we can all gain a better understanding of why. Show your support against this awful war and maybe if enough of us wear it we can end it once and for all.

Blood Vial Necklace

Filexd under: Jewelry — Tags: , , — jane @ 3:13 pm

Blood Vial NecklaceNext time you’re taking a bite out of someone’s neck you might want to think about saving some of that blood. This Blood Vial Necklace could save you some trouble later. Say you’re going about your vampire business and just not finding anyone attractive to bite into. You’re starting to get a little peckish. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that you have a little blood around your neck to hold off the hunger until you do find someone worth drinking?

You can also use this necklace to profess your love to a significant other. Remember when Billy Bob and Big Lips Magoo were married for a brief time and famously exchanged blood vials? Well, now you can be like them and do the same thing. I can’t say I want to be anything like them and have no desire to swap blood with my husband, but to each their own. It even comes in a little coffin shaped gift box. How cute is that?

They are talking about what happened on last nights episode of The Big Fang Theory, How I Met Your Sire and of course the top rated Two and a Half Vampires.

Skull Chair

Filexd under: Furniture,Office — Tags: , , , — jane @ 6:28 pm

Now this Tattooed Skull Chair is cool! If it wasn’t $4000 I’d already own it. This comes from the Mama-Tried Studios located in Brooklyn and is designed by Scott Campbell owner of Saved Tattoo. It’s actually a leather chair that is hand tattooed and apparently takes just as long to do as tattooing a person. They also offer tattooed leather pillows that might be more in your budget for $125. Check out their website for a bunch of other items as well. One particular item that I am coveting and I might just have to give in to is the laser etched replacement backs for Apple laptops. They cost $200, but they are so awesome and you can bet you won’t see a bunch of them around. There are quite a few designs, but I am particular to the shown below.Skull Chair

Dracula’s Castle

Filexd under: Travel — Tags: , , , — jane @ 9:24 pm

Dracula's CastleVampires all want to go back to their roots and visit Dracula’s Castle, or should I say Bran Castle, in Transylvania, Romania. Nothing strange about that. Unfortunately, travel is not so easy for your run-of-the-mill vampire. We can’t all be rich and live in castles. Some of us have to eke out a living working nights at the local video store and living in an old mausoleum. In case you didn’t know, video store clerks don’t make that much. Anyway, I am here to help all of you lowly vampires who do not have the sort of life where you can travel and visit your homeland. Now you can take a 360 tour of Bran Castle on your computer. That is if you can even afford that.

Sparkly Vampires

Filexd under: Apparel — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 1:39 pm

Sparkly Vampire TeeOnce again it is T-Shirt Tuesday and this one is in honor of all the Twilighters out there. The t-shirt reads I <3 Sparkly Vampires. Now, I have a lot to say about the Twilight series, but I know I need to tread lightly for fear of losing every last one of my few readers, so I’ll keep most of it to myself. I will say that I did enjoy the first movie, but I’m not a huge fan of the books. Too much romance for me to be honest. The first time I saw the movie and the whole sparkly vampire effect I must admit I snickered. It read better than it looked. Now, if Robert Pattinson wants to be sparkly that’s fine with me. I could look at him for hours without being bothered by the whole diamond effect. But I’m old school when it comes to vampires. I think they need to burst into flames and turn to dust in the sun, but that’s just me. I am a different generation from most of the Twilighters. As you can tell I am not a huge fan, but still a fan none the less, but I must admit I love this t-shirt! Even if you haven’t read or seen Twilight I think everyone knows about the sparkly effect. So, show your true sparkly vampire spirit and slap down the $17.99 for this t-shirt so everyone will know how you feel.

Vampire Con 2009

Filexd under: Books,News/Articles — Tags: , , — jane @ 12:05 pm

Vampire Con 2009If you are a vampire worth your blood you were at the first Vampire Con in Hollywood this past weekend. If you weren’t, you are a loser and shall be stripped of all your vampire benefits! I was not there, but I am not a vampire, so I think I am okay. I’ve been to so many conferences this year that I thought I’d wait until next year to go. There were so many vampires at Comic-Con that I thought I had already been anyway. A quick little article about what kinds of things went on at the Vampire Con can be found here. The most interesting thing to come out of the conference was the announcement (also announced at Comic-Con) of the first sequel ever to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, called Dracula: The Undead. It was written by Dacre Stoker, Bram Stoker’s Great-Grandnephew, and screenwriter/ historian Ian Holt. It will be released on October 13, 2009. Overall, I think more vampires would have been there if all of the festivities had been held after dark. It’s not easy finding your way to the conference through the sewers in Hollywood. Not everyone can afford to have black limos with darkened windows deliver them to the front door!

Vampire Wine

Filexd under: Bar,TV/Movies — Tags: , , — jane @ 1:12 pm

Vampire WineI love a good bottle of rich red wine. Whether it be Merlot, Cabernet or Pinot Noir I’m drinking it. Actually any color wine I’m happy with. Well, to be honest almost any kind of alcohol makes me purr with pleasure. In small quantities of course. Anyway, I was recently served a bottle of wine at a friends house for dinner and I just loved it. Of course it didn’t hurt that it was called Vampire Wine and we all know how much I love vampires. I had the Cabernet, so I really can’t vouch for their other offerings, but it was delicious. It reminded me of that scene in the movie The Lost Boys when David gets Michael to drink wine from a bottle that turns out to be blood. You know everything always reminds me of a movie. Anyhow, I poked around on their website and they have a whole line of wines, beer, vodka, energy drinks and even coffee! You can order all of this online, but I have only been able to find the wine in one store so far. You should check out their website. It has some great links and even a fun backstory that is really worth a read. Be one of us and sip the blood of the vine!

Anyway, I am always looking for creepy things to crochet and let me tell you there isn’t much. I end up making up my own patterns most of the time. This book has patterns to create a zombie, vampires, chuthlu, aliens, a grim reaper, skeletons and many more. Now I have the perfect gift for Christmas! Who wouldn’t want to get a little grim reaper under their tree?

Hungry for Vampires

Filexd under: News/Articles,TV/Movies — Tags: — jane @ 1:24 pm

EW Vampire StoryLast week Entertainment Weekly did a big cover story on vampires called “Hungry for Vampires”. They interviewed a lot of the popular authors that are writing vampire fiction right now including Anne Rice, Stephanie Meyer, Melissa de la Cruz, Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris and P.C. Cast. The best part of the article, however was the rating of their idea of the 20 Greatest Vampires of All Time. In general I agree with the vampires they chose, but not the order. I believe two great vampires were missed and should have been included in there somewhere. Jerry Dandrige played by Chris Sarandon in Fright Night was a creepy vampire even if he was somewhat campy and Spike, my personal favorite, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Spike was the Billy Idol of vampires and James Marsters, who played him, did a brilliant job of balancing a dangerous vampire with a vampire that was in love and wanted to change. I might also complain about what was written by the EW editors about Anne Rice’s Lestat. “Without Lestat, there would be no Twilight. Until Anne Rice introduced the character in her 1976 novel, Interview With the Vampire, the undead had all the sex appeal of Bela Lugosi in plastic fangs.” I completely disagree with that statement. There would be no Twilight or Leastat without Bram Stoker’s Dracula. I, and many others, found vampires extremely sexy and attractive long before we had even heard of Anne Rice. Don’t get me wrong she’s a wonderful writer and Lestat is a great character, but to say that she created the sexy vampire is just wrong.
