13th Street Stationary

Filexd under: Art,Misc.,Office,stationary — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , — jane @ 12:48 pm

A reader sent this in to me and I just had to share. 13th Street is a crime/horror station in Germany. Jacques Pense from the advertising agency Jung von Matt in Germany came up with this fantastic Zombie Stationary. I would like to see this in person. It seems to be very 3D. I absolutely love this and want it desperately. Unfortunately it seems that it is not available for sale since it’s their business stationary. Maybe I can think of some reason to write them and ask a question so they would write me back.

Creepy Wrapping Paper

Filexd under: Art,Arts/Crafts,Crafts,Halloween Decor,Holidays,Misc.,Office,stationary — Tags: , , , , , , , , , — jane @ 6:25 pm

I know you guys will read this and start complaining that Christmas is over, but this little project can be adapted for any holiday, so just shut up and read. On Christmas Day a reader named Sara sent me an email with a picture attached. The picture was of a pile of gifts that had been wrapped in the coolest creepy wrapping paper I have ever seen. I then found out her husband actually hand made it. Apparently Sara is a huge fan of the presents in the Haunted Mansion when it’s all done up for the holidays like The Nightmare Before Christmas. Ryan, her husband, took it upon himself to try and recreate the feeling and what you see at the right is the beautiful paper he came up with. All he did was buy some plain blood red wrapping paper and then draw webs on it with a black Sharpie. Tie it up with some black ribbon and you have an all occasion wrapping paper. How cheap and easy is that? I realize not everyone is an artist, but if you search around online there are many drawings available to inspire you and copy. If, however, you are as lazy as I have always suspected you are, you can click here and see a great example. Now you have no excuse to keep bugging me about the lack of good paper out there. You can just make it yourself!

*Thank you so much to Ryan Bray for creating this and Sara Bray for sharing it!

Goth Christmas Ornaments

Filexd under: Crafts,Decor,Holidays — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 5:19 pm

It’s time to decorate the Christmas tree. I’m not quite in the mood to celebrate yet, but I decided I needed some new ornaments. I didn’t feel like searching the usual stores. They rarely have much anyway. I ended up going to the hobby store with the intention of making some. I took a look around the Christmas section just in case. Sometimes I’ll start with a red ball ornament and add some black stuff to it or something like that. This time I was thrilled to see that they ended up having a few different black and red ornaments that made my little black heart sing. I pretty much cleared out the entire section since all of their ornaments were 50% off. They don’t have skulls, bats, ravens or anything else on them that I adore, but at least they have some in red and black. The store is called Hobby Lobby, but unfortunately I know that they are not in every state. They do have a website and I tried to find the ones shown on there, but all they have online are the stupid sports teams ornaments. Ugh! So, if you have a Hobby Lobby in your city run over there because they are on sale this week!

Goth Christmas Cards

Filexd under: Art,Holidays,Office,stationary — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 5:51 pm

Today is December 1st and that means that it’s that time of year again. Time to start thinking about decorating, baking, wrapping presents and sending Christmas cards. I may be a scary chick, but I still love Christmas and all of it’s traditions. I just like it a little darker and quirky. Most years I make my Christmas cards because I just can’t find any that I like. You can only send out so many Edward Gorey Christmas cards before you get sick of it and want something different. As I was doing my searching this year I came across these Goth Christmas cards from Moonlake Designs. They are all designed by a graphic artist in Wales. They are fantastic! A little Christmas, a little dark and a little humor. Moonlake Designs are sold through Greeting Card Universe and cost $2.79 ea. Yes, I know, a little expensive if you are sending a lot of cards, but totally worth it. You have to cough it up if you want something a little unusual. They will even custom print your message on them. There are quite a few different styles including non-Christmas ones, so look around.

Bloody Bookmark

Filexd under: Books,Decor,Halloween Decor,Office — Tags: , , , — jane @ 4:43 pm

Bloody BookmarkToday has been a very frustrating day and there are a few people that I wouldn’t mind taking out. You know those kind of days, don’t you? As I was searching for something to write about today I noticed there was a distinct slant to my searches. I started by searching on the word blood and it just went down hill from there. Of course, right off the bat, I found something I thought was so cool and proceeded to try and find out where it could be purchased. Not as easy as it sounds. A lot of companies use different names for the same product, so what could be called a bloody knife on one site is called halloween knife on another. Anyway, after more than a two hour exhaustive search online and on the phone I discovered that the item was discontinued. This just pissed me off. It happens a lot actually, but on days like this it really sends you over the edge. I won’t mention the item, because I don’t want you lusting after it like I am and then getting up in my face because I wrote about something that you can’t have. So, my search for blood continued and I came across this cool little item. Depending on what site you go to it can be called anywhere from Bloody Bookmark to Liquid Bookmark. For my purposes (and mood) I’m going with Bloody Bookmark. This bookmark is actually made in Japan from hand poured silicone, so no two are alike. Depending on which site you purchase from it also comes in a milk version (white) and mercury (dark grey). Can you guess my favorite? The Bloody Bookmark retails at $9.99 from Thinkgeek.com, but other sites also sell it in a three piece set for $29. Just think of all the fun you could have with this. No one says it has to be used as a bookmark. If you plan on buying this though, be prepared for the dumbass jokes that will get repeated over and over. This bookmark can be especially dangerous if you are a woman reading in public. Every guy will think he’s being cute and original when he says, “Excuse me, but I believe your book is bleeding.”

Scary Tights

Filexd under: Apparel,Fashion — Tags: , , , , , , — jane @ 1:15 pm

Bloodbath TightsI get links from you guys all the time and it’s great. Sometimes it takes me awhile to check them all out and for that I’m sorry. Keep sending them though because not all of them are worth writing about. The subject of today’s blog post was sent to me back in February! Ack! Anyway, this is about tights. Scary tights for that matter. I remember when they just came in solid colors. I’m not a huge fan of tights and leggings in general. Reminds me too much of the 80s. You remember the black stir-up pants that women would wear with a huge sweater and scrunchy socks to match? Ew! I see tights now and that’s all I can think of. Hopefully that ridiculous style will not be brought back anytime soon. I have to admit that these tights are way cool, though I just can’t get myself to ever think about wearing them. These tights are called Blood Bath and are designed by James Lillis for his company Black Milk. Mr. Lillis just started the company a little over a year ago and it has now grown into one of the most popular tight brands available. He also runs a blog called Too Many tights where you can keep up with news and products. He will be releasing a new line of printed leggings shortly, so the pair shown and seven others on his site will be discontinued in the next week. If any of them catch your eye you’d better order them or they will be gone forever. Of course who knows what he has in store for the new line. Might be worth the wait.

*Thanks Beautiful Kind for the link!

Slit Throat Choker

Filexd under: Art,Arts/Crafts,Fashion,Jewelry — Tags: , , , , , , , , — jane @ 2:58 pm

Slit Throat ChokerOh, how I appreciate a macabre sense of humor. So many people out there are so uptight. In the world we live in today you really have to stop once in awhile and smell the dead roses or just get a good laugh. I’m sure I will be bombarded again with emails after people read this post, so let me just say now I am not a serial killer or psychotic. I enjoy life as much as I can and have a great sense of humor considering the things that are going on around us. All that being said, I found this great Slit Throat Choker on Etsy! The artist’s name is Tiana Rutledge and she creates this choker and many other things including Slit Wrist bracelets and Blood Drop earrings. She also makes this fantastic Black Rose ring. I just love her stuff. They are all hand sculpted from flexible polymer clay and very reasonably priced. You can get the entire Bloody Mess set for just $28. Great for Halloween obviously, but I plan on wearing mine year round. I can’t wait until I can wear it to pick up my daughter from school. Those uptight private school moms won’t know what hit them. Shocking them always makes my day.

Skullstar Throw

Filexd under: Accessories,Bed & Bath,Decor,Furniture — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 6:49 pm

Skullstar ThrowIt actually takes very little in life to make me happy. Unfortunately, I do have expensive taste and those items make me very happy. Once in a great while I come across something that I expect to be expensive and I am happy to see that it isn’t that bad. In those cases I usually buy the item immediately thinking I’m getting a great deal. Scary Hubby does not always agree. He always says that just because it’s not expensive doesn’t mean we need it. He reacted that way when I received this Skullstar throw in the mail the other day. “Don’t you have enough blankets with skulls on them?” I of course responded that this is a throw and not a blanket. We don’t have any throws with skulls on them. “Aren’t they the same thing?” “Nope. Blankets are for your bed and throws are for the sofa when you get a chill.” He couldn’t realistically argue that point, so he gave up and walked away. Kill ‘em with logic I always say. Plus, he knows better than to argue with me.

Scary Wrapping Paper

Filexd under: Misc.,Storage — Tags: , , , — jane @ 5:55 pm

Wrapping presents is one of my all time favorite things to do. I have a room in my new house that is dedicated to just that. That was one of the things I said to Scary Hubby that I had to have in our new house. He knows about my obsession, though he does not share it or understand it. I have a hard time during this time of year because there is wrapping paper and bows in all the stores and I just can’t resist buying it. I’m always on the lookout for unusual or even scary ones to add to my ever growing collection. Today I came across these two lovely ones. I’ve seen bone wrapping paper before, but this one is really nice. I especially fell in love with the blood splatter wrapping paper. I wonder what my family would think if I wrapped all of their Christmas presents in it. Ah! They’d probably just shake their heads and say, “Typical Jane, always trying to shock us.” They’re all pretty used to me by now. I think I’ll do it anyway.Blood Splatter Wrapping PaperBone Wrapping Paper

Coffin Sunglasses

Filexd under: Accessories,Apparel,Jewelry — Tags: , , , — jane @ 12:36 pm

Coffin EyeglassesFound these creepy Coffin Shaped Eyeglasses. They are beyond creepy cool, but I do wonder how well you can see out of them with the cross design right in front of your eye. I love the tagline too: What would Dracula wear on the Riviera? They’d be great for a Halloween costume, but I’m not sure about the practicality. They are apparently sunglasses so that helps. Maybe you can’t see the cross when you are wearing them. If anybody has these please let me know. I really like them, but feel like I wouldn’t be able to see and be bumbling around in them. A++ for style though.
