Gingerdead Men Cookie Cutter

This is the time of the year when everyone is rushing around everywhere trying to get the best deals, buying a tree, decorating, baking etc. It’s a struggle every year to get Christmas decorations that aren’t so damn cheerful. I like Christmas as much as the next person, but you may have noticed that I like things a little more dark. At least I hope you have. Scary daughter loves to make a Gingerbread House every year. I supply her with the kit, but usually substitute the candy and frosting for something more scary. I usually will make small Gingerbread men for her to place around the little house. I’ve tried many different things to make them a little scary, but none have turned out well. Yesterday I found a Gingerdead Men Cookie Cutter on Fred that will be perfect. Unfortunately he is the more traditional sized Gingerbread Men Cookie Cutter. I figure that they will not only be dead Gingerbread Men, but they’ll be giants in the Gingerbread House world. What could be more scary? I think I’ll still make the little ones and they can be running away from the big scary Gingerbread Men. Need I even mention how awesome these guys will be for the stupid neighborhood Cookie Swap?

Crystal Skull Candle

Filexd under: Accessories,Crafts,Decor,Halloween Decor,Lighting — Tags: , , , , , , , , , — jane @ 9:14 pm

We are getting dangerously close to Halloween and nothing could make me happier. As usual we will have our annual Halloween party and I am already in planning mode. I usually have all of the food set up on 2 huge tables and I like to decorate them a lot. I am always looking for something that I’ve never seen before to make it different each year. Well, along comes an email today pointing me towards this fantastic Crystal Skull Candle. I fell in love immediately and decided right away that 2 of them would be perfect to add to my candle collection on the tables. That is until I saw the price. No way am I spending $150 per candle for something that is burned down in one night! Why does this always happen to me? I find the perfect thing and then end up having to find something that will do. Maybe I’ll buy a couple of black candles and some crystals and see if I can’t recreate them. Won’t look anywhere near as good, but it’ll be a hell of a lot cheaper.

*Thanks to Katie for directing me to this. Now if only she would point me to a cheaper version.

Little Black Skull Dress

Filexd under: Apparel,Fashion — Tags: , , , , , , , — jane @ 3:41 pm

Once in awhile I still pop onto Hot Topic just to see what’s new. Sometimes you can get lucky and they have some neat stuff . This time I picked up a little black dress. Every girl can use a little black dress, right? You can dress it up and you can dress it down. Usually they are very simple and all black, but this one has a little kick to it that I just couldn’t resist. It’s not too often that you can find a skull themed outfit without it having a giant skull splattered on the front. I like to be a little more sneaky in my clothing choices. I want someone to have to look closely to see what’s on there. Well, that’s exactly what this little dress does. From far away it just appears to be a normal pattern, but up close you see that it’s actually a skull cameo print. Even the lace at the bottom has skulls woven into it. Love, love, love it! Now I just need an excuse to wear it.

Cake Candelabra

I always get very excited when it’s time to check out the new Worldwide Fred catalog. They have the greatest stuff and their wicked humor always puts a smile on my face. I was looking through the catalog to see if there was anything new that I couldn’t live without. I came across this Cake Candelabra. I absolutely love this, but I must admit to being a little pissed off. My birthday was just last week and I would have killed to have this on my cake. I went online to go buy one for next year, but they are not in stock yet. They will be selling for $7.99 at Perpetual Kid. So, in the end I wouldn’t have been able to have one on my cake anyway. Still sucks though. My other problem with it is that it should be black. It would be more dramatic that way. Oh! And it would be so cool if there were little spiderwebs stretched between the candles or even drops of blood. Oh well. I can dream. Of course not everyone is as dark minded as I am, though they should be. It would be a lot easier to go shopping if everything was my style. I know I have mentioned this before, but I really want a store that just caters to me.

The Coffinshakers

Filexd under: Halloween Decor,Music — Tags: , , — jane @ 4:49 pm

A while back a reader sent me the link to this group on YouTube.com. I have since listened to everything they have and have fallen in love with them. If you are having a party this weekend you really need to include them in your music. From what I can tell they are actually from Sweden, but you’d never guess it from their songs. Check out their website where you can buy all of their albums. The lead singer sounds just like Johnny Cash! Take a listen to Last Night Down By the Grave below. This one is on the slower side, but they can really get rockin’. My favorite is probably Halloween which you can find on their myspace page, but I really like Back From the Grave too. Well, hell I love them all actually. Give them a listen. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Per Arne Iznogood for introducing me to this great band.
