Inside out Zombie

Filexd under: Apparel — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 5:56 pm

zombie tshirtAs usual today is T-shirt Tuesday. Normally I would feature a t-shirt that you could buy, but not this time. This Zombie t-shirt was a promotional t-shirt for Resident Evil that was given away in San Diego at Comic-Con. I was there, but unfortunately did not get to be one of the lucky ones that received this fantastic t-shirt. This t-shirt was just too cool not to show you. Hopefully if enough people talk about it somebody will come along and produce the shirt so we can all buy it. The t-shirt is pretty simple on the front and says, “Let your darkside out” with a creepy zombie image behind it. On the back is the Resident Evil graphic. As you lift the shirt over your head a zombie face appears and turns an otherwise normal t-shirt into a zombie costume. Lifting the shirt up this way also forces your arms into the standard zombie position! How amazingly cool is that? The only downside would be for us girls, though I’m thinking guys would disagree. I’m not sure I’d want to lift my shirt over my face just for a mask. Weren’t we taught as little girls never to lift our shirt over our heads? I guess you could wear a shirt under it. Either way I really want one and it sucks that you can’t buy them!

Climbing Gargoyle

Filexd under: Accessories,Art,Outdoors,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 7:21 pm

Climbing GargoyleA while back I saw a house with two of these climbing gargoyles climbing up the side of their house. I thought it was pretty cool at the time. I have never gotten around to getting a couple of them myself, but I think about it a lot. I’m really not sure why I havn’t done it, because it really is rather creepy. I think it may have to do with all of those movies about bugs that I used to watch on Saturday afternoons as a kid. You know the ones — Empire of the Ants, The Food of the Gods, The Swarm, and so on. The idea of things crawling up my walls is especially creepy to me. I’m thinking that putting a couple of climbing gargoyles on my walls is probably not the best idea. Especially when I tend to subscribe to the philosophy: why buy just one when you could buy 50.

Friday the 13th

Filexd under: News/Articles,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 12:18 pm

Friday the 13thCan you believe that I never noticed it was Friday the 13th yesterday? I usually look so forward to those days. They always talk about it on the news like it’s some huge event and people are convinced some horrible thing will happen. I enjoy that part of it, not really the day itself. I just think it’s a crack up that people put so much onto a number and a particular day. They made crap loads of those Friday the 13th movies just based on our irrational fear of that day! According to the Wikipedia entry there is no definitive answer as to where this came from. It seems to be mostly a 20th century superstition, but you can read more about it yourself here. If you do have a fear of that day maybe reading the entry will help you not be scared of it. I’m all for scary days, but in my life it’s just for fun. I don’t take it seriously as a couple of my readers seems to think. Lighten up people and enjoy life a little. Next time Friday the 13th comes around enjoy it for the silliness that it is. Now, I know if I don’t answer this I will be bombarded with emails, so yes I do like the movies and the second one is my favorite.

Zombie CalendarOMG! I just came across this great Zombie Pin-up calendar that I can’t live without in 2010. Apparently they have been making it for a few years now. How could I have missed this? Ever since I saw Zombieland a few weeks ago I’ve been obsessed with all things zombies. It may be pics of girl zombies, but who cares? It’s absolutely hilarious. I just hope that next time my car is in the shop getting an oil change I see this calendar on the wall instead of the ususal boring bimbos.

Filexd under: TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 9:45 am

screamAs promised a week ago here is the list of the Scariest Movies to watch on Halloween according to the Scary Jane readers. I was bombarded with emails on everyone’s choices, so thank you. Apparently you guys are really passionate about this. Overall I’ve seen and love the majority of these, but I am interested in the one or two of them I haven’t seen. I feel like quite a few were left off, but that’s just my opinion. If you don’t agree with these you have only yourself to blame because you didn’t send in your vote. So, here are the top ten Scariest Movies and the top ten Scariest Family movies that got the most votes in no particular order:

1.     Halloween (original)

2.     Scream series

3.     Psycho (original)

4.     The Changeling

5.     The Ring

6.     Evil Dead

7.     The Shining

8.     Seven

9.     The Exorcist

10.    Rosemary’s Baby

* Honorable mention to: Martyrs, The Haunting (original) and The Legend of Hell House

1.     Hocus Pocus

7.     The Nightmare Before Christmas

8.     The Haunting Hour: Don’t Think About It

Scary Movie

Filexd under: TV/Movies — Tags: , , , — jane @ 11:50 am

Halloween DVDThroughout the month of October I start watching all of the scary movies that I love. There are many of them to get through before Halloween night hits. It’s not that I don’t watch scary movies all year round, but I like to watch all of my favorites at this time of the year. Of course the month always culminates in watching Halloween on Halloween night after the trick or treaters are done ringing the door. It is important to note that I love only the original Halloween. The new Rob Zombie Halloween was way too gory for me and didn’t give me the same chills that the original one does. I did actually like that they put a little more back story on the new one. It made it interesting to see what they thought had turned Michael into a monster. On the other hand that actually took some of the scariness away from the story. I don’t think I need to know that Michael had a bad childhood. It’s more scary to not understand how he became this way. Why can’t they leave the classic movies alone? There are thousands of books published every year. Why not pick out something more original? I’m still angry that they remade Psycho. I actually like Vince Vaughn a lot, but the new Psycho sucked big time and Anne Heche was horrible casting. That idiot couldn’t act her way out of a paper bag. Anyway, everyone seems to have their favorite scary movie that they pull out on Halloween. Let me know what your favorite is. I also just love to watch Hocus Pocus with my daughter every year, so tell me your favorite family Halloween movie too. I want to compile a list of must watch scary movies and lets face it I want to see if there are any that I haven’t seen or forgotten about.

Zombie Party

Filexd under: Apparel — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 4:36 pm

Since I saw Zombieland a few weeks ago I’ve been obsessed with all things zombie. I wish I had planned to have a Halloween party this year, but it becomes bigger and bigger and therefore more involved every year. Every other year is my limit. If I’m still into Zombies next year I might make it a zombie party. How cool would that be? It would be even better if it was warm enough to do it in your yard. I could just imagine driving by someone’s house with a whole bunch of zombies walking around in the yard and spilling into the street. Every Halloween there are quite a few cities that do a zombie crawl. If you haven’t been to one they are lots of fun. Usually it’s just everyone showing up on some city street dressed as a zombie and walking around for a few hours. People get very creative. That idea got me looking around at zombie costumes. Probably the best ones would be homemade, but I did find a couple of good ones. A good portion of them are quite lame, though. My one problem with most of the costumes is that they include a mask. I hate masks! I never where them. They look great, but they are so hot and sweaty. No one can ever understand what you are saying and you can’t hear anything. I’m not a huge fan of wearing lots of makeup, but it’s still better in my opinion.Zombie 2 costumeZombie costumeZombie Doctor costume

Glowing Zombies and Ghosts

Filexd under: Apparel — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 6:40 pm

Glowing Zombies and Ghosts T-ShirtWe are getting really close to Halloween. I’m so excited. The whole month of Halloween I wear all of my scary t-shirts. I start with the tamer ones and progressively get scarier as the month goes by. Even though I have so many I can never get enough. I have just found one to add to my collection. It is pretty scary, so I might be wearing this one on the last day of the month. I can’t believe I have never seen this Glow-in-the-Dark Zombies and Ghosts T-shirt. The best part about this t-shirt is that the zombies and ghosts don’t appear until the lights go out! Until then it’s just a creepy mansion and graveyard. How could you not love that? The t-shirt is hand dyed. This means there is no iron-on that will crack and flake off. The ink is embedded in the 100% cotton. I wish it came in a girl’s t-shirt, but for $17.95 who cares? I ordered one anyway.

Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters

Filexd under: Books — Tags: , , , — jane @ 4:04 pm

Sense and Sensibility and Sea MonstersI, like many normal people, love Jane Austen. Her words are brilliant and bring everything to life. I can’t get enough of it. Shameful I know. Scary Jane, who professes to love all things scary and unusual actually loves something normal. Then in April of this year I was rewarded for my love of all things Jane Austen. The book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was released. This of course just thrilled me to pieces. I no longer had to hide my love of Jane Austen and hang my head in shame. I could shout it from the rooftops. It married my two favorite things and it was hilarious to boot. I was finally hip. Now, I am thrilled to announce they are releasing Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters this Tuesday, September 15th. I am perfectly prepared that this one may not be quite as good as the first one. Just the same I will be standing in line to purchase it with all of the other closeted Jane Austen worshipers. Now, if only they would release Mansfield Park Vampires.

Scary Decals

Filexd under: Accessories,Bed & Bath — Tags: , , — jane @ 4:15 pm

Monster DecalsToday I have something that’s not exactly scary, but a little more fun and clever. Not everything in life needs to be scary. I like things that make me laugh, too. I have a bathroom in my house where the walls are filled with things to make you laugh. I lose guests for hours in there. I found this great Toilet Decal that I might just have to add to that. There is a company called HU2 Designs based in Great Britain that makes vinyl decals. Not just any old stickers, but ones made for your walls, floors, toilets, appliances etc. They run about $25 to $100 depending on size and details and will ship anywhere in the world. I particularly love the monster ones. They have a toilet monster and wall monsters as well, but according to the website they can be applied to any smooth surface, except wallpaper, so let your imagination run wild and have some fun.
