When I was a kid we always colored eggs for Easter and built gingerbread houses for Christmas. I always thought we should do something special for Halloween. Halloween was not a big thing in our house and my parents were never interested in doing anything special. For many years my daughter and I have made cookies shaped like headstones, but this year we have something more fun planned. We are making Brains Cupcakes and maybe the Zombie Cupcakes that they also make. Come on people! Start a tradition with your kids and make something special so they will always remember that Halloween is so much cooler than Christmas and Easter. They are available at your nearest Cost Plus/World Market and here.

After your annual Easter viewing of Night of the Living Dead you and your little one can practice the best way to kill a zombie bunny by eating the head first. Order yours here so your child can be prepared for the next zombie bunny invasion.

The PeepsOkay, I admit it. Now and then I take a walk on the normal side and check out It’s not something I’m proud of, but sometimes a ridiculously cute little bunny or kitty can put a smile on my face. I was in the middle of giving into this need when I was rewarded with something that’s a little more my style. I’ve made no secret of my love for all things Hitchcock, so when I came across this Peep remake of The Birds I was a very happy Scary Jane. I love the imagination of people. I personally hate peeps. I think they taste disgusting, but they sure make for some cool dioramas. This one was done by Jill Goebel of Alexandria, VA and was a semifinalist in the fourth annual Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest.
