I get links from you guys all the time and it’s great. Sometimes it takes me awhile to check them all out and for that I’m sorry. Keep sending them though because not all of them are worth writing about. The subject of today’s blog post was sent to me back in February! Ack! Anyway, this is about tights. Scary tights for that matter. I remember when they just came in solid colors. I’m not a huge fan of tights and leggings in general. Reminds me too much of the 80s. You remember the black stir-up pants that women would wear with a huge sweater and scrunchy socks to match? Ew! I see tights now and that’s all I can think of. Hopefully that ridiculous style will not be brought back anytime soon. I have to admit that these tights are way cool, though I just can’t get myself to ever think about wearing them. These tights are called Blood Bath and are designed by James Lillis for his company Black Milk. Mr. Lillis just started the company a little over a year ago and it has now grown into one of the most popular tight brands available. He also runs a blog called Too Many tights where you can keep up with news and products. He will be releasing a new line of printed leggings shortly, so the pair shown and seven others on his site will be discontinued in the next week. If any of them catch your eye you’d better order them or they will be gone forever. Of course who knows what he has in store for the new line. Might be worth the wait.
*Thanks Beautiful Kind for the link!
Yuck! Too scary for me. Don’t know if this is real, but here it is anyway. Can you imagine standing behind her in line? It looks so real, that I’m sure someone falls for it and tells her she has a spider on her neck. I must admit though that it is very well done.
*Thanks Lisa for the photo and thanks for the creepy crawlies that I now have!
As usual a trip over to the Hot Topic website rewards me with a cool new find. They have a Bloody Hands Water Bottle that is just too cool. Got me thinking though. Why bother buying one for $7.99 when you can make your own? How many of us have been left with bloody hands after a night of fun? Why not find one of your own water bottles you probably have lying around and wipe those bloody hands on it. Let it dry and ta da! You have your very own Bloody Water Bottle personalized just for you. Every time you take a sip you’ll be reminded of that fun and crazy night. If you find yourself with bloody hands often, why not make some for your family and friends for Christmas? Just don’t bother making me one because I have plenty of my own.
Finally got to see Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant last night. We had meant to see it when it came out, but with a small child in the house it can sometimes be hard to get away. It didn’t help that the movie pretty much disappeared after just a couple of weeks. I had read the bad reviews, but I didn’t care. It looked like the perfect movie for me. I went into it with very low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it and the more I think about it I like it even more. I think this movie definitely suffered from much to long of a title. Movies with really long titles don’t usually do as well at the movies. With some exceptions I’m sure. The movie was based on the first book of a series, which I have not read. I plan to now. I liked the feel of the movie right away. It had a sense of humor, but still delivered some scary scenes and even a rather brutal scene. The town that the movie was set in was obviously supposed to be very vanilla and I like the fact that everyone wore pastel colors all of the time. Very “I shop at JCrew” kind of look. I just think they should have played that up a little more because I’m not sure it came across enough. Lots of great stars, too. It was also refreshing to see vampires portrayed in a more ugly way instead of all brooding and sparkly. Not all vampires are handsome. You can tell that they meant this to be the first of many, but unfortunately it did not do well, so I’m thinking it’s not in the cards. Too bad. It’s a world that transferred really well to film. Scary Hubby and I always tend to like the movies/TV shows that no one else does. I’m looking forward to exploring it more in the books, though.
I am a huge fan of chokers. Necklaces are nice, but there’s something about a choker especially a velvet choker that I just love. I am forever in search of the perfect vampire bite choker. In other words a choker that looks like a vampire took a bite out of your neck. I don’t know how or why I got so obsessed with this. Maybe it’s because there’s so many versions available out there, but none of them quite do it for me. It’s not like I have some secret desire to be bitten by a vampire or even become one. If they were real I would have absolutely no desire to be one. I once had a dream when I was much younger that I was just turned into a vampire. I woke up in a cold sweat and it took a few minutes for me to realize it wasn’t true. Up until that point I was just horrified at even the thought. Anyway, there I go rambling on again. I found this really cool Bitten Choker that I really like. Probably the coolest I have seen. Unfortunately I can only seem to find it in a UK store. I swear! They have the best stuff over there. It’s just not fair.
In honor of Valentine’s Day I set out to find a scary Valentines Day t-shirt. Not an easy task. For some reason people do not mix love with scary. Apparently people in love can’t have a sense of humor about it. Thank goodness in my house this is not the case. I did find a Zombies Need Love Too T-shirt which will fit the bill. There are quite a few different versions online, none of which got me all that excited, but this one isn’t too bad. When I first read the title I pictured a zombie chasing down a girl or something, but none of the ones I found were anything like that. Doesn’t make the sentiment any less valid, though. Everyone needs love, even zombies.
Since it was cold and snowy here over the weekend Scary Hubby and I decided to see some of the movies that we hadn’t seen in the theater. We are huge movie fans in this house, but with a 7 year old you end up not seeing a lot of the scarier ones until they are released on DVD/satellite. This time we saw “The Uninvited“, “The Haunting of Molly somebody or other” and “Lady in White“. I realize the last one is from 1988, but I had never seen it for some reason. All of these were scary, but not particularly bloody, which I like. More mystery than horror, I would almost say. Anyway, I’ll start with “Lady in White“. It was okay, but quite cheesy. It honestly felt more like a made for TV movie. The acting was decent and the story was interesting, but the music and special effects, even for 1988, were not good. I’m still rather confused as to why they called it “Lady in White” when she was hardly in the movie. I guess it’s a scary title. Doesn’t every town have some legend about a lady or woman in white? On to “The Haunting of Molly…“. Not worth it to look it up to get the correct name. It’s about a girl that’s about to turn 18 and finds out about her devilish future. The movie had me interested in the beginning, but I soon realized where this was going and that there was no way out for her. It was okay, but predictable in my opinion. Glad I didn’t spend the money to see it. Finally, there’s “The Uninvited“. This was definitely the better of the three. We were prepared for it not to be good, though. I’d heard that it was a remake of a Korean movie called “A Tale of Two Sisters” and that it did not live up to that movie’s supposed brilliance. Since we had not seen that movie though, we had nothing to base the story on and just went with it. We both enjoyed it very much! It started out as pretty run of the mill and I have to confess I was playing on my laptop in the beginning with only one eye on the movie. It wasn’t long before the movie had my full attention. It ended up being one of those movies that you go back and re-watch a few scenes to put it all together. I also noticed that we have continued to discuss it even though we saw it back on Saturday night. That’s always a good sign for me. A lot of the reviews mentioned big holes in the story, but if you pay attention that really is not the case. It was, by no means, the best thriller I had ever seen, but it was definitely worth watching. Basically it’s about a girl that tried to commit suicide after her ill mother was killed in a fire and now comes back to live with her family and her Father’s new fiance, who was also her Mother’s nurse. Give it a chance, if you really pay attention you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Oh, how I appreciate a macabre sense of humor. So many people out there are so uptight. In the world we live in today you really have to stop once in awhile and smell the dead roses or just get a good laugh. I’m sure I will be bombarded again with emails after people read this post, so let me just say now I am not a serial killer or psychotic. I enjoy life as much as I can and have a great sense of humor considering the things that are going on around us. All that being said, I found this great Slit Throat Choker on Etsy! The artist’s name is Tiana Rutledge and she creates this choker and many other things including Slit Wrist bracelets and Blood Drop earrings. She also makes this fantastic Black Rose ring. I just love her stuff. They are all hand sculpted from flexible polymer clay and very reasonably priced. You can get the entire Bloody Mess set for just $28. Great for Halloween obviously, but I plan on wearing mine year round. I can’t wait until I can wear it to pick up my daughter from school. Those uptight private school moms won’t know what hit them. Shocking them always makes my day.
OMG! OMG! OMG! I’m so excited! Okay so not only is Burn Notice with Bruce Campbell starting up again tonight, but I just got the most awesome news. If you are as much of a Bruce Campbell fan as I am you will be thrilled. If not, well frankly your an idiot and should not be reading this, so go away. A few months ago I blogged about the My Name Is Bruce movie. As usual it was hilarious and Bruce Campbell was brilliant. Well, Mr. Campbell just announced a sequel to that movie called Bruce vs. Frankenstein which will begin shooting in the fall. Here, you can read it for yourself:
“Hello everyone. Bruce Campbell here. This urgent message is short, because my keystrokes are monitored and I fear for my life. My partner at Dark Horse comics, Mike Richardson (normally a very rational and talented man), threatened to have his foot soldiers “crush my spleen” if I did what I am about to do. But the fans deserve to know, so with great trepidation I officially announce Bruce Vs. Frankenstein, the sequel to My Name is Bruce. Principal photography begins this fall in Oregon. I’d like to live long enough to see the cameras roll, so please, for the love of God, do not tell anyone – I can’t risk this announcement getting back to Mike! Thank you.”
Mike Richardson’s response to this hilarious letter:
“As a result of this leak, Mike Richardson has Bruce bound and gagged in a secret room of which only he knows the location. We did learn that Mark Verhedien will return to write it and Ted Raimi will play a KEY role in the film. Richardson says he will release Campbell sometime in the near future when “Bruce learns to keep his big mouth shut.”
I am beyond excited and even more so knowing that Ted Raimi will be in it again as well. Hail to the king, baby.
*Thanks Angelia for the heads up! You made my day.
Here it is T-shirt Tuesday again. I have a great little t-shirt for you today. It’s called the Little Scary Doll and I think that’s the perfect name. She’s actually adorable, but very sinister looking. She has an Asian feel to her that I really like. Kind of scary anime which is different. Actually she looks like an anime vampire! It might look strange for a guy to wear, but us girls will find it totally adorable and creepy. The nice thing about this shirt is you can pick from a huge range of t-shirt colors to put her on. I love when they do that. I tend to want everything in black, but I think for her it might have to be a different color.
