I have found a new artist/designer that I am absolutely in love with. Her name is Georgina Brett Chinnery and the name of her company is Bombarock. Of course, as usual, the company is based in the UK where I am convinced all of the people with good taste or at least scary taste live. Ms. Chinnery started the company in 2006 as an upholstery and design business. Although now she mainly works in leather pieces she has some amazing fabric pieces that are just to die for. Bombarock produces anything from chairs to ironing board covers to aprons. Hard to narrow down what is my favorite, but the Bat Apron and the Skull Chair rank pretty high up there. I just love a designer that has some real style and originality.
So excited! I just had to share. Just received the artwork that we purchased a while back by Karl Christian Krumpholz. I did a post about him here. I hung it up immediately. It doesn’t really match the colors I have in my house, but when you fall in love with something you just deal with it and find a spot. Widdershin was originally the cover for one of the artist’s comic books called Byron: Die Byron Die. I just love the tiki style that it has. Isn’t it just so cool?

Are you getting married soon? If you are and you are into all things scary then you just have to get one of these pillows to put your rings on. I wish I could get married all over again just so I could use one of these Skull Ring Pillows! These are so beautiful, I just can’t stand it. I want to order one just to have it in my house. They are 10″ square, so maybe as a small pillow on my sofa. They are hand sewn by a woman in North Carolina. She makes them in different fabrics and I’m hoping eventually a blue and black one will appear. That would match the best in my house. The set includes the pillow and a garter for $42.95, which is a little steep, but worth it for the handmade quality that’s involved. Apparently these were even featured in a Modern Bride article. She also does celestial themed sets that I am fond of as well. Now if only she would make full size pillows then I would be very happy.
I found this cute Skull & Bones candle, but I have a problem or two with it. First of all, they are apparently marketing this candle to men. This I will address in a minute. Secondly, the candle is scented with tobacco leaf and vanilla. I love the smell of vanilla, but I gave up tobacco a long time ago and have no desire to smell it now. If I want to smell that I’ll head down to the corner dive bar. I definitely do not want my house smelling like that. I miss smoking, don’t get me wrong, but smelling tobacco every time I light a candle would get me started again and that I don’t want. My other problem is that this has been marketed towards men. Really? Are there that many men out there shopping around for candles? If they are, they’re shopping for something to seduce their significant other with and unless she’s like me (doubt it) they won’t appreciate a skull on their candle. Doesn’t exactly scream romance. Just saying.
I am a huge fan of chokers. Necklaces are nice, but there’s something about a choker especially a velvet choker that I just love. I am forever in search of the perfect vampire bite choker. In other words a choker that looks like a vampire took a bite out of your neck. I don’t know how or why I got so obsessed with this. Maybe it’s because there’s so many versions available out there, but none of them quite do it for me. It’s not like I have some secret desire to be bitten by a vampire or even become one. If they were real I would have absolutely no desire to be one. I once had a dream when I was much younger that I was just turned into a vampire. I woke up in a cold sweat and it took a few minutes for me to realize it wasn’t true. Up until that point I was just horrified at even the thought. Anyway, there I go rambling on again. I found this really cool Bitten Choker that I really like. Probably the coolest I have seen. Unfortunately I can only seem to find it in a UK store. I swear! They have the best stuff over there. It’s just not fair.
I know it’s a little early for most people to be thinking about Halloween, but not me. Every year we try to outdo ourselves and everyone else on the block. The only way to do that is to have your eyes open all year round. I have been buying remote controlled spiders for years and have never found one that really works well or is all that realistic. A while back I ordered one from the UK and it finally arrived. Unfortunately I could not seem to find this guy here in the US, so I had to wait. This Radio Controlled Spider is far and away much better than all the ones I’ve seen. I got the Black Widow, but it is also available in a Tarantula, but I’m not sure you can get that one anymore. You’d have to look around. It was designed by the Natural History Museum as an educational toy. Yeah, right. Maybe an education in how to scare people out of their minds. Anyway, he measures quite big at approx. 12″ wide and 10″ long and runs on 6 AA batteries and 1 9V battery. Like other radio controlled spiders you can hear a little motor, but the plus with this one is the look and movements which are far superior to any I’ve seen before. I can’t wait to try it out on Scary Hubby, though he’s used to my attempts to scare him, so I don’t know how well that will work.
Apparently I’ve been out of the loop on card games or should I say card decks. I’ve been playing with the same damn set of cards for the last 10 years. I had no idea that Bicycle offers all sorts of great theme card decks. As I was poking around on Amazon the other day I came across the Guardians deck. Totally cool, so I started looking around some more and OMG! so many neat sets. I was drooling. Literally. It always makes me so happy to see big companies do things with their products that are a little outside of the box. Some innovative person within their company thought that just making the same card deck in blue or red wasn’t enough. Why not branch out and make themed sets that will get people to buy even more sets of cards. I mean I know they were thinking how can we make more money. People play with the same cards forever, like me. I can’t fault them for wanting to make more money. Don’t we all? I just mean that they set out to see what people wanted. There are bunches of us ”weirdos” out there and it’s nice to see them catering to us once in awhile too. We don’t all shop at J Crew. Anyway, got carried away. I was just going to point out my favorite of all of their special sets, which is the Black Ghost deck or maybe the Karnival Midnight is my favorite. They also make the Tragic Royalty deck, Karnival Assassin, Black Spider, Shadow Masters and many others that aren’t necessarily creepy just really cool. If only there was a vampire and a zombie deck then it would be perfect. Now go throw away that crappy deck you’ve been using for years and get yourself one of these creepy suckers.
Once again it’s T-Shirt Tuesday and I was looking around for the perfect t-shirt. I happened on this one from Hot Topic, which usually comes through in a pinch. Do you love Shakespeare? Do you love zombies? Well, now you have a perfect way to marry your two loves with the Zombie Shakespeare T-Shirt. On the bottom of the shirt is an updated quote from Hamlet: “Alas poor Yorick. I ate his brains.” That just cracked me up, but it got me thinking. It’s about time they did this to Shakespeare. I mean I actually can’t believe it took them this long. I’m not particularly a fan, but I don’t hate him either. Some of his stuff has become so corny with time that it just begs to be made fun of. Now I just have to wait for the Zombie Shakespeare movie to come out.

And now for the person who has everything…Rotten Luck Dice. This is a set of five extremely cool dice designed by Douglas Little that are made out of a zinc alloy and Swarovski crystals. Each one is engraved with a skull, a peace sign, the devil, the number 13, a shamrock and a horseshoe and comes in a cool black box. Now for the price that’s not so cool…$195! They are beyond neat, but I’m not sure they are worth quite that much. Of course, Barneys is selling them so that might explain the price. If you go over to Unica Home though they are selling them at 20% off. They would be neat to have sitting around to play with. The kind of people that can afford to spend $195 on a trinket seem like they might have quite a bit of luck already and wouldn’t want to risk the luck of the roll. I also tend to picture rich executive types as not having a wicked sense of humor which I think is required for an item like this.
In honor of Valentine’s Day I set out to find a scary Valentines Day t-shirt. Not an easy task. For some reason people do not mix love with scary. Apparently people in love can’t have a sense of humor about it. Thank goodness in my house this is not the case. I did find a Zombies Need Love Too T-shirt which will fit the bill. There are quite a few different versions online, none of which got me all that excited, but this one isn’t too bad. When I first read the title I pictured a zombie chasing down a girl or something, but none of the ones I found were anything like that. Doesn’t make the sentiment any less valid, though. Everyone needs love, even zombies.
