Dead Rat Purse

Filexd under: Animals,Art,Arts/Crafts,Fashion,Jewelry,Nature,Outdoors — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , — jane @

Really?!? A purse made out of a dead rat? Now I have seen everything. Don’t get me wrong I have absolutely nothing against rats and other rodents in general, but do I want to be carrying a dead one around as a purse? That would be a resounding no. It’s not my thing, but maybe it’s yours. The designer, Reid Peppard, makes many other taxidermy pieces as well which can be found in a few select boutiques and online here and here.

Scary iPad

By now you should all have your iPads, right? Well, if you don’t then get your lazy butt off the sofa and buy one. If you can’t afford it then “borrow” one. I absolutely love mine and frequently change the covers on it according to my mood. There are so many cool covers and bags out there. I was sent the one pictured from a company called GelaSkins. This particular one was designed by Munk One a.k.a Jose A. Mercado and is called Murder Scene. Although I really love it, it doesn’t look like any murder scene I’ve ever seen. What’s with the birds? Did they try to poke her eyes out? Why is it that her hair seems to be made of birds? This is all just a little too reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. Ever since I saw the movie years ago I have a fear of birds that appear in groups. I think the fact that the birds aren’t explained in the movie is why it bothers me so much. So, though I love this skin, I’m not sure of how long it will stay on my iPad, but they have many others.

Scary Peeps

The PeepsOkay, I admit it. Now and then I take a walk on the normal side and check out It’s not something I’m proud of, but sometimes a ridiculously cute little bunny or kitty can put a smile on my face. I was in the middle of giving into this need when I was rewarded with something that’s a little more my style. I’ve made no secret of my love for all things Hitchcock, so when I came across this Peep remake of The Birds I was a very happy Scary Jane. I love the imagination of people. I personally hate peeps. I think they taste disgusting, but they sure make for some cool dioramas. This one was done by Jill Goebel of Alexandria, VA and was a semifinalist in the fourth annual Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest.

Raven Lunatic

Raven Lunatic t-shirtSo, I came across this Raven Lunatic t-shirt a while ago and kept putting off writing about it. Why, you ask? Well, for some reason I just don’t have anything to say about it. I really like it and love the reactions when I wear it, but for once I have nothing to write. I know, who’d a thought it was possible. Scary Hubby wonders sometimes if there is anything in this world that I don’t have a lot to say about. Well, here it is. For some reason it leaves me tongue tied and speechless. Obviously I could make some witty remark about Edgar Allan Poe, but that just makes me think of my cat Edgar and then that in turn makes me think of his sister Agatha and then I can’t get my brain to work. I thought it was the perfect one to post today since I don’t have anything to say about anything. My whole focus is on my sweet kitty Agatha at the moment who appears to have let us know that it is time. If you’ve been keeping up with my posts then you’ll know what that means. If you haven’t, well WTF?

Raven Feathered Chair

Filexd under: Art,Furniture — Tags: , , , — jane @

black_feather_chairA reader directed me to this Black Feather Chair and I just had to share it with you. It is so deliciously creepy. This was designed by Elyse Hochstadt back in 2007 and was featured at FIVEten Studio. The actual name of the chair is Portrait of George 1. I covet this chair and I must have it. I’m sure the $7500 price tag is a misprint, right? I’m sure they left out the period and it’s really $75. I’m going to get on a plane, march right on over to the studio in Oakland, California and slap down my $75! They better give it to me too, because clearly it was made with me in mind. Just think… a chair designed just for me. How lovely. Now if only I can scrape the money together for a plane ticket.

Thanks Doomsday For the link.
