I just love it when you guys send me links to cool stuff you’ve found on the internet. Luckily there is so much neat stuff available out there, but it does make it impossible for me to find everything. This time around I was sent a link to this fantastic Skull Friendship Bracelet made by Links of London. I remember making Friendship Bracelets in high school with embroidery thread. This one is made with copper colored silk thread and sterling silver skull beads and sells for a cool $195. I really love it, though I think it would be much prettier in black silk. Somehow I don’t think the ones we made back then would have sold for that much. That has to be a really, really good friend for me to spend that much on a friendship bracelet. I’m not sure I’ve ever had that good of a friend, but if you buy it for me I’ll be your new bestie.
* Thanks SMEden for the link!

You know how much I love skeletons, right? Up until now I thought everything would look much better if it had a skull or even a skeleton on it. That is until I saw this Lovely Bones Lace Headband. I’m not usually a headband kind of girl. I tend to let my long hair hang loose on most days, but I’ll put it in braids or even up on a hot day. Never a headband. They are just too itchy. I do enjoy the funny ones on holidays or for costumes, but it pretty much ends there. This particular one… well, I just don’t know what to say about it. It looks stupid for one thing. If you took the little skeleton off it would be actually quite pretty. Apparently when the designer (an idiot IMO) put all of the black ribbon, lace and feathers together she/he thought it needed a little something else to creep it up a bit. A blood red rose maybe? Nah. Oh wait, what about a spider? No, not enough pizazz. I know! Let’s slap a tiny plastic skeleton right in the middle of it! Sure, that makes total sense. I mean who wouldn’t be creeped out by a real live tiny skeleton on someone’s head? Perfect! Now, let’s charge $39.95 for it and it’ll fly off the shelves. We’ll be rich in no time. Great plan asshole.

Anyone who reads this blog or for that matter just looks at it can guess what my favorite colors are. Dk. Blue and Black have always been my favorite. That’s why my black hair rocks a blue streak on the blog and in real life. It’s my thing. Along with painting my fingernails black and my pinky fingernails blue. A good portion of the world finds me rather odd and abrasive. I do my own thing and as long as I’m not hurting anyone who cares? That being said there is the odd thing that’s pretty mainstream that I get excited about. I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I watched every moment of the recent royal wedding. Royalty just fascinates me and always has. I think it’s because back in the day my great uncle was the King of Denmark’s personal valet. My Mom grew up playing with the current Queen of Denmark and used to tell all sorts of cool stories. Sadly my Mom did not stay in touch with her, but she followed her life closely and in turn followed all royalty. When Prince William proposed to Kate with Princess Diana’s sapphire ring I was so excited. Not only because sapphires are my favorite stone, but because it was not the boring and expected diamond solitaire the size of a small country. In some ways I would love to have that ring, but it’s not really me. I came across this Gothic Sapphire Crystal Ring though, that would suit me just fine and would not be such a strain on the wallet at $89.95. It’s still my favorite color and surrounded by diamond-like Swarovski crystals, but this one has an edge to it, a skull edge that surrounds the stones! I love it when things look normal until you look closely and see the evil.

It’s a skull. No, it’s an MP3 player. No, I got it… it’s a belt buckle! Oh wait, it’s also an LED light. Oops, I almost missed it, but it’s also a frame? I guess it’s all of those things. It’s a Skull LED MP3 Belt Buckle. What were they thinking when they came up with this little gadget? Could they not decide what they wanted to make? I’m all for gadgets that do various things, but this is ridiculous. Kind of an odd idea, but it is pretty cool though. The skull is basically a big belt buckle. It opens up so you can put in the included MP3 player, the LED lights or anything of your own that you want to show off. It goes for $20.99. That’s a little more than $4 for each feature. What a deal!

I was online shopping for a birthday present for my brother-in-law and got distracted as usual. Just show me anything shiny or scary and I’m off looking at other things. I ended up coming across these great skull earbuds. I followed the link only to discover that they were sold out. Of course, that just pissed me off and put me on a mission. After a lot of searching I found some even better ones over on Amazon.com. These are not just skull earbuds, but Crystal Encrusted Skull Earbuds. The best part? They are only $24.99. Even if they don’t work that well who cares? They are shiny skulls and I’ll look awesome wearing them.

I am quite the crafty person, as you have probably already guessed. I’ve always got multiple projects going. My big problem and I do mean big is that I am not the cutesy crafter type. I hate the traditional projects you see in books where everything is sweet and pink with delicate ivory lace all over it. I want edgy stuff which luckily has become a little easier to find. Apparently I wasn’t the only frustrated crafter. I was talking to a friend tonight and she told me about this book called Anticraft. She was looking for something different as well and came across it. I borrowed it and after spending a few minutes looking through it I promptly ordered it. The full title is Anticraft: Knitting, Beading and Stitching for the Slightly Sinister. The title alone is cool, but I do like to think that I am more than just slightly sinister. At first glance the cover is not very interesting and may not look like it has anything in it worth looking at. Wrong. This is a perfect example of “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. Wonderful things await you inside. The whole layout of the book is nice and creepy with great photographs and includes knitting, crocheting, sewing and jewelry projects. The book even includes tips and sidebars that will help you embrace your dark nature. The authors also have a website where you can get even more of your Anticraft on. Love, love, love it!

Are your stockings hung from the chimney with care yet? Or are you a lazy elf like me? I realized as I was sitting in front of the fireplace last night that I hadn’t hung up our stockings yet. I went to get them and realized that I’ve never liked them. We got them years ago as a gift from a friend and they are just a tad too cutesy for me/us. Obviously it wasn’t a close friend or they would have guessed that. Anyway, I started looking online for some new ones that I could order for next year. I found a great seller on Etsy that made some beautiful stockings like the one with the skulls on the right. The one on the left that I fell in love with though, I’m having a hard time finding. It’s an Emily the Strange Christmas stocking, but it doesn’t say that on it, which makes me really like it. It appears to have been discontinued as I have only found one available on ebay. Leave it to me to lust after something I’m going to have a hard time getting. Maybe I’ll wish for them to be in my cutesy stocking from Santa on Christmas morning.

I love Halloween parties. Everything about them. From the planning to the decorating to the cooking. Unfortunately there is one thing that I don’t enjoy about the average Halloween party and that’s the costumes. Before you judge me and bite my head off in a fit of rage, let me explain.I have said it before and I will say it again. I don’t like funny costumes. Halloween is about scary stuff, not funny stuff. Save the jokes for April Fool’s Day. I’ve tried many times to tell people only to wear scary costumes and you’d think with my friends that would be easy. Unfortunately, no. It’s not even the actual costumes that bug me, it’s the randomness of it. I have always wanted a party like the one in the first Addams Family movie or even just a good scary theme would make me happy. Victorian dead people, classic horror movie characters, zombies or even just the weirdest scary thing that you could come up with. Victorian dead people is probably my favorite though and these Casket Cuff links would be perfect. Can’t you just picture a guy in a rotted out tuxedo with tails, a spider infested top hat, some makeup and these fantastic Casket Cuff Links? Actually I think I’ve seen some movie at some time where a guy dresses up like that for a Halloween party, but I can’t remember what it was. Oh well, he sounds like my dream date.
Are you getting married soon? If you are and you are into all things scary then you just have to get one of these pillows to put your rings on. I wish I could get married all over again just so I could use one of these Skull Ring Pillows! These are so beautiful, I just can’t stand it. I want to order one just to have it in my house. They are 10″ square, so maybe as a small pillow on my sofa. They are hand sewn by a woman in North Carolina. She makes them in different fabrics and I’m hoping eventually a blue and black one will appear. That would match the best in my house. The set includes the pillow and a garter for $42.95, which is a little steep, but worth it for the handmade quality that’s involved. Apparently these were even featured in a Modern Bride article. She also does celestial themed sets that I am fond of as well. Now if only she would make full size pillows then I would be very happy.
I am a huge fan of chokers. Necklaces are nice, but there’s something about a choker especially a velvet choker that I just love. I am forever in search of the perfect vampire bite choker. In other words a choker that looks like a vampire took a bite out of your neck. I don’t know how or why I got so obsessed with this. Maybe it’s because there’s so many versions available out there, but none of them quite do it for me. It’s not like I have some secret desire to be bitten by a vampire or even become one. If they were real I would have absolutely no desire to be one. I once had a dream when I was much younger that I was just turned into a vampire. I woke up in a cold sweat and it took a few minutes for me to realize it wasn’t true. Up until that point I was just horrified at even the thought. Anyway, there I go rambling on again. I found this really cool Bitten Choker that I really like. Probably the coolest I have seen. Unfortunately I can only seem to find it in a UK store. I swear! They have the best stuff over there. It’s just not fair.
