Slit Throat Choker

Filexd under: Art, Arts/Crafts, Fashion, Jewelry — Tags: , , , , , , , , — jane @ 2:58 pm

Slit Throat ChokerOh, how I appreciate a macabre sense of humor. So many people out there are so uptight. In the world we live in today you really have to stop once in awhile and smell the dead roses or just get a good laugh. I’m sure I will be bombarded again with emails after people read this post, so let me just say now I am not a serial killer or psychotic. I enjoy life as much as I can and have a great sense of humor considering the things that are going on around us. All that being said, I found this great Slit Throat Choker on Etsy! The artist’s name is Tiana Rutledge and she creates this choker and many other things including Slit Wrist bracelets and Blood Drop earrings. She also makes this fantastic Black Rose ring. I just love her stuff. They are all hand sculpted from flexible polymer clay and very reasonably priced. You can get the entire Bloody Mess set for just $28. Great for Halloween obviously, but I plan on wearing mine year round. I can’t wait until I can wear it to pick up my daughter from school. Those uptight private school moms won’t know what hit them. Shocking them always makes my day.

Spooky Shades

Filexd under: Accessories, Art, Decor, Lighting, Office, TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 6:47 pm

Jack the Ripper Lamp ShadeSo, there is a woman in France that designs lamp shades and calls them Spooky Shades. Elisa refers to herself as a rock n’ roll/metal fan who was frustrated with the lack of interesting and funky housewares available in stores. She particularly didn’t like all of the plain lamp shades out there, so decided to make her own edgy ones. What Elisa has come up with is just fantastic. I’m not neccessarily a metal fan, but there are a lot of common design elements between that and my preferred scary lifestyle. There are ones based on horror movies, skulls and even one with anatomy sketches over a Jack the Ripper letter which I might add is my personal favorite. Each one appears to be different and one of kind and she updates often with new styles. If you don’t see one you like now, keep checking back because her stock changes often.

Tooth Tattoos

Filexd under: Art, Misc., Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 5:26 pm

Tooth TattoosThis is not so much scary as just weird. I understand people wanting tattoos. It shows off your personality or what you care about, but this is just plain strange in my book. A dental lab in Salt Lake City called Heward Dental Lab will tattoo any image onto your crown or bridge. Prices range between $70 and $250 depending on the complexity. My question is what’s the point? No one can see it. I guess you could open your mouth really wide and pull your cheek out and you are also giving your dentist something interesting to look at. Beyond that though, I don’t know. It’s a lot of money to spend when no one is going to see it. I know people put tattoos in strange places and on their nether regions, but then at least someone is seeing it. Well, I assume, anyway. If you are really into looking creepy putting a skull on your front tooth might be pretty cool, but I get the impression from the website that they mostly do inside the mouth. I think I’ll stick with the more standard body parts, thank you.

Scary Ass Doll Thing

Filexd under: Art, Misc., Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 4:58 pm

Creepy Baby Doll thingSunday seems to have become scary/weird/creepy/yucky picture day. I didn’t plan it, but I never feel like writing much on Sundays for some reason. People are always sending me weird pictures that they have found on the internet and it just seems like the perfect day to post them. Plus today I am knee deep in a Hitchcock marathon on TV. With that in mind here’s today’s contribution. Not really sure what to say about it or where it even comes from for that mattter, but here it is anyway. I find it creepy and cool at the same time. Enjoy and keep sending them!

*Thanks Lisa!

Bees!

Filexd under: Accessories, Art, Decor, Nature, Outdoors, TV/Movies, Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 6:23 pm

I know I mostly cover scary things on this blog, but once in a while I come across something gross that’s worth talking about. Actually this is just beyond creepy and gives me the heebie jeebies. Artist Aganetha Dyck works with honeybees to create sculptural objects that end up coated and filled with precisely formed honeycomb structures. This just gives me the complete creeps. It reminds me of those old horror movies from the ’70s that were about killer bees taking over the world. Killer Bees, The Bees, The Swarm etc. I just remember in one of those movies somebody being found dead covered in honeycomb. That scared the crap out of me as a child and gave me nightmares for weeks. I really see no reason anyone would ever want to put this art on display, but maybe that’s just me. I swear I was just looking at the pictures again and my gag reflex kicked in. ICK!

Metallic Skull

Filexd under: Accessories, Art, Collectibles, Decor, Halloween Decor, TV/Movies — Tags: , , , — jane @ 3:08 pm

Metallic SkullI found this fantastic skull over at Z Gallerie. They always surprise me with their cool little scary items that they come up with now and then. This Metallic Skull is another one of those nice surprises. It’s not that big at 7″ x 4.5″ x 5.25″, but with the high shininess factor you probably wouldn’t want it any bigger. It will pack quite a punch on it’s own. You could even hang it from the ceiling and use it as a disco ball. I absolutely love this little skull! It reminds me of something in a movie, but I’m drawing a blank at the moment. I’m sure I’ll wake up at some point in the middle of the night and remember it. I’ll post it when I think of it, but until then you will just have to keep refreshing my page and breathlessly await my update. Not going to do that? WTF? What kind of stalker are you anyway?

Coffin Calendar

Filexd under: Art, Books, Misc., Office, Outdoors, Storage, Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , — jane @ 3:20 pm

Sexy Coffins calendar 2010I know it’s already the middle of January, but I have another calendar for you that I just couldn’t not talk about. Someone sent me the link to this site where they feature a Coffin Calendar. I believe the calendar is actually called Sexy Coffins Calendar. This calendar is created by Cisa, a funeral home and coffin factory based in Rome, Italy. I suppose it is a way to advertise their…uh…services. On the page you can look through the pictures featured each month. As I was looking through it I noticed something. Well, first off I should point out that each calendar features one or more scantily clad goth girls posing around coffins. Some of them are pretty cool and some of them just T&A crap. On closer inspection, though, you will notice that in every single picture they are using the exact same coffin. Huh? First of all the Calendar is called “Sexy Coffins”. So apparently either they carry only one coffin that they believe to be sexy or it is just a sexy goth girl calendar in disguise. Secondly, I understand putting the scantily clad women around the coffin, but if you are trying to promote your business wouldn’t it make more sense to show a different coffin in each picture? You too can own this calendar for the small price of $16.95, but if you were looking for a brochure from the company look elsewhere.

*Thanks Angelia for the link

Scary Wedding

Filexd under: Art, Food & Candy, Misc., TV/Movies, Uncategorized, kitchen — Tags: , , , — jane @ 1:37 am

Scary Wedding CakeA reader sent this picture in to me. She said she was getting married and they were planning on doing a scary themed wedding. This is the cake design that they found online and are having copied by their bakery. I don’t know where this picture is from so I can’t give credit to anyone. I absolutely love this cake. I’ve seen scary themed wedding cakes before. A lot of people have been doing the whole Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride, but I applaud these two for going just plain scary and not relying on pre-made props. I love these movies as much as the next guy, but from what I’ve seen it’s pretty easy to throw that kind of wedding. From her description they are doing it all themselves and I can totally get behind that! I almost wish Scary Hubby and I could do it again, so we could have this cake too.

*Thanks Dubus for the pic and yes I think it’s great…obviously.

Hand Soap: Take 2

Filexd under: Art, Bed & Bath, kitchen — Tags: , , — jane @ 6:35 pm

Handy SoapA few months ago I blogged about some Baby Hand Soap that was really quite creepy. You’d think that would be the end of it, but happily no. I found another deliciously creepy Hand Soap, but this time it’s a grown-up hand and hangs on the wall of your shower. It doesn’t exist yet, but we can hope. It was designed during a research project at Berlin University of the Arts with a German company called Design Reaktor Berlin. This is a company that helps small businesses organize production, marketing and get distribution for their products. I think this would be oh so cool in my shower, but placement would be of the utmost importance. Looking at the picture it appears to be rather low on the wall. Wouldn’t this cause embarrassing accidents while bending over to clean your lower extremities? Also, here’s something to think about. After you’ve used it for a while it’s not exactly going to look like a hand anymore. It will eventually become a little soap stump. How attractive would that be? Of course you’re accidents wouldn’t be as ticklish anymore. Don’t know if you consider that a good thing or not.

Zombie Artwork

Filexd under: Accessories, Art — Tags: , , — jane @ 8:42 pm

Over the weekend Scary Hubby and I went to an art show in Denver of his childhood friend Karl Christian Krumpholz. He is primarily the writer/artist of such comics as Angst Boy Comics, Sturm und Drang, Schadenfreude and Byron. He also does pen and ink artwork that is absolutely amazing. Karl has a collection of famous people that he has brilliantly zombiefied such as Frank Sinatra and Humphrey Bogart shown below. We are actually going to purchase one of his other art pieces that was originally created as one of the Byron covers that we fell in love with. He is an extremely talented artist that deserves your attention.Zombie-SinatraZombie-Bogart
