Flaming Silver Skull

Filexd under: Accessories,Art,Decor,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , , , — jane @ 3:33 pm

Flaming Silver SkullI know this Flaming Silver Skull is supposed to be scary and it is I guess. It’s very cool and all that, but it reminds me of something a lot less scary. Like the Heat Miser (without the skin) from A Year Without a Santa Claus. He might be scary to your average 3 year old, but not me. I absolutely love the Heat Miser and his brother Snow Miser. Great song. It also reminds me of Syndrome from The Incredibles. Let’s face it though, his look was totally ripped off from the Heat Miser. Anyway, this little skull is about 6″ tall and is made of cold cast resin with a silver finish. He looks to me to be quite pointy, so he might be a good weapon to have around if someone pisses you off.

Scary Statue

Filexd under: Misc.,Outdoors,Travel,Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , — jane @ 8:08 pm

Scary StatueHere is a picture of a scary statue that I found on the internet. I absolutely love this statue. The problem is I have no idea where this statue is or if it is even real. It looks real, but in the age of Photoshop who knows? I’d also like to know what it is actually a statue of. It looks like the Grim Reaper, but I can’t imagine anyone making a statue of him. I can’t make out what the plaque says. If anyone knows anything about this statue please email me or post a comment. I continue to search on the internet for it. I’ll post if I find out anything.

*Update: Ask the world of the internet and quickly get an answer. Gotta love it! This was designed by Anna Chromy, a sculpter & painter born in the Czech Republic. Her best-known piece is the empty coat, known as Coat of Conscience. There is one located in Austria, one in Praque, one in Athens and a few others. So much for for my scary ideas. Thanks Irie.

Eyeball Locket

Blue Eye of Protection Poison RingEyeball Locket

I got the link to this Etsy website called Blue Bayer Designs from a reader. All I can say is wow. This is amazing stuff that this guy in New York is creating. His name is actually Blue Bayer and he is a self taught artist. He creates great SteamPunk and Victorian jewelry using anything from watch parts, to bat skulls, to dolls eyes and just found items. I am particularly partial to his eyeball jewelry like the Eyeball Locket and the Blue Eye of Protection Poison Ring. Very unique. He makes all of his items to order, so you can make such requests as what color eye or type of metal he uses. His prices are very reasonable considering how much work and skill goes into making each one. I have a birthday coming up in March if anyone (are you reading Scary Hubby?) is trying to figure out what to get me.

*Thanks Faye in Aurora, CO

Slit Throat Choker

Filexd under: Art,Arts/Crafts,Fashion,Jewelry — Tags: , , , , , , , , — jane @ 2:58 pm

Slit Throat ChokerOh, how I appreciate a macabre sense of humor. So many people out there are so uptight. In the world we live in today you really have to stop once in awhile and smell the dead roses or just get a good laugh. I’m sure I will be bombarded again with emails after people read this post, so let me just say now I am not a serial killer or psychotic. I enjoy life as much as I can and have a great sense of humor considering the things that are going on around us. All that being said, I found this great Slit Throat Choker on Etsy! The artist’s name is Tiana Rutledge and she creates this choker and many other things including Slit Wrist bracelets and Blood Drop earrings. She also makes this fantastic Black Rose ring. I just love her stuff. They are all hand sculpted from flexible polymer clay and very reasonably priced. You can get the entire Bloody Mess set for just $28. Great for Halloween obviously, but I plan on wearing mine year round. I can’t wait until I can wear it to pick up my daughter from school. Those uptight private school moms won’t know what hit them. Shocking them always makes my day.

Spooky Shades

Filexd under: Accessories,Art,Decor,Lighting,Office,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 6:47 pm

Jack the Ripper Lamp ShadeSo, there is a woman in France that designs lamp shades and calls them Spooky Shades. Elisa refers to herself as a rock n’ roll/metal fan who was frustrated with the lack of interesting and funky housewares available in stores. She particularly didn’t like all of the plain lamp shades out there, so decided to make her own edgy ones. What Elisa has come up with is just fantastic. I’m not neccessarily a metal fan, but there are a lot of common design elements between that and my preferred scary lifestyle. There are ones based on horror movies, skulls and even one with anatomy sketches over a Jack the Ripper letter which I might add is my personal favorite. Each one appears to be different and one of kind and she updates often with new styles. If you don’t see one you like now, keep checking back because her stock changes often.

Hairy Scary Spider

Filexd under: Apparel,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , — jane @ 3:04 pm

Hairy Scary Spider T-ShirtI may be scary minded, but I’m not crazy! I hate spiders! Hate, hate, hate them!! Do you get my point? If not, here’s some more. They are creepy, crawly, hairy, sneaky, gross little creatures. Now do you get it? This Hairy Scary Spider T-shirt brings out my worst fear. I actually turn into a screaming girly girl when I see one. Seriously, I don’t like to kill them. They are living creatures, but there are times when it is unavoidable. Like when I’m jumping up and down screaming in terror in the bathroom and I happen to land on one. This actually happened to me once, so that’s the reason for the disclaimer. Anyway, I try to catch them and lead them outside, but usually I make Scary Hubby do it. I live in fear of being too close to one. As a child I lived in Texas for a few years where they have lots and lots of them. The tarantulas there would jump up at you. I don’t know if all tarantulas do that, but they do in Texas. Nice state, but if you don’t like creepy crawlers stay away. That’s all I’m going to say.

Tooth Tattoos

Filexd under: Art,Misc.,Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 5:26 pm

Tooth TattoosThis is not so much scary as just weird. I understand people wanting tattoos. It shows off your personality or what you care about, but this is just plain strange in my book. A dental lab in Salt Lake City called Heward Dental Lab will tattoo any image onto your crown or bridge. Prices range between $70 and $250 depending on the complexity. My question is what’s the point? No one can see it. I guess you could open your mouth really wide and pull your cheek out and you are also giving your dentist something interesting to look at. Beyond that though, I don’t know. It’s a lot of money to spend when no one is going to see it. I know people put tattoos in strange places and on their nether regions, but then at least someone is seeing it. Well, I assume, anyway. If you are really into looking creepy putting a skull on your front tooth might be pretty cool, but I get the impression from the website that they mostly do inside the mouth. I think I’ll stick with the more standard body parts, thank you.
