3-D Spider

Filexd under: Art, Fashion, Nature, Weird Stuff — Tags: , , — jane @ 7:35 pm

Spider tattooFor your creepy enjoyment (or not) I present you with this yucky spider tattoo. It looks a little fake to me. It’s just a little too perfect. I can’t seem to find the origin of this picture, so I just have to assume that it’s real. Either way… ICK!!

The Eye

Filexd under: TV/Movies — Tags: , , — jane @ 5:30 pm

The EyeIn my quest to catch up on some of the scary movies released the last few years I saw The Eye from 2008 today. Yet another remake of an Asian film. Aren’t they all lately? I’ve been selling books for years and it constantly amazes me that Hollywood insists on remaking perfectly good films instead of mining more of the wealth of books out there. I have not seen the original of this movie called Gin gwai, but from what I can understand it’s much better than the remake. Very predictable. It’s about a blind girl who gets a cornea transplant and starts to realize that she can see dead people. Very similar to a movie from 1994 called Blink, which was much better in my opinion. It was good for some jumpy scares in the beginning, but otherwise I would not highly recommend it. Maybe a way to pass an afternoon, I guess. I’ve seen better remakes for sure, but all in all I wish they’d stop doing it. Most of the time they are not very successful anyway, so why bother.

Widdershin

Filexd under: Art, Books, Decor — Tags: , , , , , , — jane @ 9:17 pm

So excited! I just had to share. Just received the artwork that we purchased a while back by Karl Christian Krumpholz. I did a post about him here. I hung it up immediately. It doesn’t really match the colors I have in my house, but when you fall in love with something you just deal with it and find a spot. Widdershin was originally the cover for one of the artist’s comic books called Byron: Die Byron Die. I just love the tiki style that it has. Isn’t it just so cool?Widdershin coverWiddershin

Skull Ring Pillow

Filexd under: Accessories, Furniture, Jewelry — Tags: , , , , , , , — jane @ 8:26 pm

Skull Ring PillowAre you getting married soon? If you are and you are into all things scary then you just have to get one of these pillows to put your rings on. I wish I could get married all over again just so I could use one of these Skull Ring Pillows! These are so beautiful, I just can’t stand it. I want to order one just to have it in my house. They are 10″ square, so maybe as a small pillow on my sofa. They are hand sewn by a woman in North Carolina. She makes them in different fabrics and I’m hoping eventually a blue and black one will appear. That would match the best in my house. The set includes the pillow and a garter for $42.95, which is a little steep, but worth it for the handmade quality that’s involved. Apparently these were even featured in a Modern Bride article. She also does celestial themed sets that I am fond of as well. Now if only she would make full size pillows then I would be very happy.

Skull & Bones Candle

Filexd under: Accessories, Bed & Bath, Decor, Lighting — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 6:25 pm

Skull & Bones CandleI found this cute Skull & Bones candle, but I have a problem or two with it. First of all, they are apparently marketing this candle to men. This I will address in a minute. Secondly, the candle is scented with tobacco leaf and vanilla. I love the smell of vanilla, but I gave up tobacco a long time ago and have no desire to smell it now. If I want to smell that I’ll head down to the corner dive bar. I definitely do not want my house smelling like that. I miss smoking, don’t get me wrong, but smelling tobacco every time I light a candle would get me started again and that I don’t want. My other problem is that this has been marketed towards men. Really? Are there that many men out there shopping around for candles? If they are, they’re shopping for something to seduce their significant other with and unless she’s like me (doubt it) they won’t appreciate a skull on their candle. Doesn’t exactly scream romance. Just saying.

Eternal Excercise

Eternal Exercise T-ShirtYay! It’s T-Shirt Tuesday again. I know you’re probably not as excited as I am, but you could at least try to be. Anywho the t-shirt I found this time is hilarious. At least it made me laugh. This would be the Eternal Exercise T-Shirt. This brings to my mind all of those zombie movies and something that pisses me off. I think there needs to be some agreement in zombie movies. In some of them the zombies run after their victims and others they just slowly stumble along, but always seem to get there. The latter seems the more realistic to me. I’m all for a little creativity, but let’s agree on one thing: zombies are not smart. All they want is to feed, so they head towards the food (people). I don’t think they would be smart enough to run after their food. They would stumble towards it. Some movies have even gone as far as to make their zombies appear smart. Zombies are dead people. Period. Putting all of that aside this t-shirt just makes me laugh. I’m not sure why you would want to put a zombie on a treadmill, but it sure makes for a funny picture. What would be even funnier though is if you hung a brain in front of him. Give him the incentive to continue on the treadmill, unlike I do.

Bitten Choker

Filexd under: Fashion, Jewelry — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 6:45 pm

Bitten ChokerI am a huge fan of chokers. Necklaces are nice, but there’s something about a choker especially a velvet choker that I just love. I am forever in search of the perfect vampire bite choker. In other words a choker that looks like a vampire took a bite out of your neck. I don’t know how or why I got so obsessed with this. Maybe it’s because there’s so many versions available out there, but none of them quite do it for me. It’s not like I have some secret desire to be bitten by a vampire or even become one. If they were real I would have absolutely no desire to be one. I once had a dream when I was much younger that I was just turned into a vampire. I woke up in a cold sweat and it took a few minutes for me to realize it wasn’t true. Up until that point I was just horrified at even the thought. Anyway, there I go rambling on again. I found this really cool Bitten Choker that I really like. Probably the coolest I have seen. Unfortunately I can only seem to find it in a UK store. I swear! They have the best stuff over there. It’s just not fair.

Killibinbin

Filexd under: Bar, Books, Food & Candy, Games, Toys/Games — Tags: , , , — jane @ 5:40 pm

Killibinbin CabernetKillibinbin Scaredy CatLast night Scary Hubby and I had a few friends over for game night. One of my good friends (now best friend) decided to bring me a bottle of wine she happened to come across that she knew I’d like. We have a great bunch of friends. They know what I like, so anything remotely scary is brought to the Scary Jane alter to be oo’d and ah’d over. Well, this time they struck gold. This is a wine from Australia called Killibinbin. They make quite a few different wines, but I received the Scaredy Cat Cabernet Malbec. What makes these wines so great, you ask impatiently? Well, my little pain in the ass, besides being fun to say they have really cool labels. They look like the old pulp mystery novel covers they had back in the day. This of course brings together three of my favorite things. Wine, books and scary stuff. I haven’t tried the wine yet, because the bottle is so neat, but I can imagine that I’ll love it no matter what just because of the presentation. I’m easy that way.

Zombie Fluxx

Filexd under: Games, Toys/Games, Travel, sports — Tags: , — jane @ 5:53 pm

Zombie Fluxx gameI come from a long line of game lovers. I grew up playing games with my family and friends and still do. We host game nights with our friends and every Sunday afternoon is game time in our house. One that we play regularly is the award winning game Fluxx. It’s a fun card game that’s easy to play anywhere since there is no board or money involved. I recently found out that there is a Zombie Fluxx version. How cool is that? I can’t believe we’ve been playing all this time and never knew. I have yet to get it, but I’m very curious about it and how the zombie theme changes the game. I would try to explain the game to you, but the goal and the rules of the game changes all the time and it’s one of those games you just have to jump in and play. From what I can understand there are weapons to kill the zombies with and your friends can become zombies. If anyone out there has played it email me or comment on this post and let me know what you think and if it’s worth getting.
