Creepy Tree

Filexd under: Decor, Halloween Decor, Misc., Outdoors, Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , — jane @ 7:14 pm

Creepy TreeOnce again I received a great photo from a reader. This one is of a very creepy looking tree at the side of the road.  As usual I tried to find the origin of this picture, but with no luck. Makes me wonder if it wasn’t manipulated. I wish this was in my yard. It would scare my neighbors to death and they’d never sleep. What a great Halloween decoration! Some plots of land have all the luck.

*Thanks Joe1785 for the picture.

Ventriloquist Doll

Filexd under: Collectibles, TV/Movies, Toys/Games — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 3:54 pm

Clown Ventriliquist DummyI know I claim to love all things scary and I do, but I draw the line at clowns. Clowns scare the crap out of me and not just because of a movie called It. It seems I may have been born with this fear. I’m not sure how it started. It might be the fact that when I was little Scary Jane there was a small clown painting in my room that was supposed to be cute. I remember laying in bed staring at it and trying to go to sleep. I probably had bad dreams about it. I finally made my Mom take it down. That coupled with the numerous movies and TV shows that featured a killer clown made me what I am today. A quivering idiot at the sight of any clown. Actually the ones that are not meant to be scary are the ones that scare me the most. Those painted smiles cover up the fact that they aren’t really smiling. The Ventriloquist Clown Doll scares me the most. Makes me think of that old movie Magic with Anthony Hopkins. You know the one where the ventriloquist dummy takes control and murders people. So, take a murderous dummy and then make him a clown and you have the one thing that will make me run down the middle of the street screaming in terror. If anyone was thinking of getting me that for Christmas can I please get a cute zombie doll instead?

Filexd under: Collectibles, Games, Toys/Games — Tags: , , , — jane @ 7:18 pm

Voodooz DollDo you have that family member that kinda gets on your nerves? The one you dread seeing every year, but you still have to buy a gift for. Well here’s the perfect gift. A Voodooz Doll! There are four different dolls available: Ezili, Uchawi, Baka and Kennis. Each little voodoo doll has an articulated internal skeleton and is approximately 10″ tall. It comes with voodoo pins, mojo bones, binding twine, a chicken foot and a journal. These are extremely popular little dolls and only a limited number were made. They can be hard to find. If they are no longer available at the above link look around on the internet. I have found them regularly on ebay. Just make sure you stick the pins in and curse it before you give it to them or they could use it on you!

Wicked Plants

Filexd under: Books, Outdoors, Weird Stuff — Tags: , , , — jane @ 5:59 pm

Wicked Plants Book CoverBeing a book store owner I naturally love books as well as all things scary. When I come across something that brings two of my loves together I get very excited and my wallet begins to quiver with anticipation. Here is a book that I have already placed my order for called Wicked Plants: The Weed That Killed Lincoln’s Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities written by Amy Stewart. How could I not want this book? The title alone is worth it! I love to add odd and interesting books to my shelves at home. Though I do not have the book in my hot little hands yet, you can take a peak inside on the Amazon website. With titles like Deadly Dinner, Lawn of Death and The Devil’s Bartender the chapter’s names themselves are worth a read. Check out this cute little video the author did about the book.

Little Scary Doll T-Shirt

Filexd under: Apparel — Tags: , , , , , , — jane @ 5:13 pm

Little Scary Doll t-shirtHere it is T-shirt Tuesday again. I have a great little t-shirt for you today. It’s called the Little Scary Doll and I think that’s the perfect name. She’s actually adorable, but very sinister looking. She has an Asian feel to her that I really like. Kind of scary anime which is different. Actually she looks like an anime vampire! It might look strange for a guy to wear, but us girls will find it totally adorable and creepy. The nice thing about this shirt is you can pick from a huge range of t-shirt colors to put her on. I love when they do that. I tend to want everything in black, but I think for her it might have to be a different color.

Christy Kane Dolls

Filexd under: Art, Books, Jewelry, Misc., News/Articles, Story/Poem, Toys/Games — Tags: , , , — jane @ 7:37 pm

Minta DollI came across this wonderfully creepy doll artist, photographer and storyteller the other day and had to share her with you. Her name is Christy Kane and you can see all of her amazing creepy dolls and read their stories on her website. Ms. Kane has a great sense of humor and writes these amazing little stories about each of her creations. She also wrote a book that tells the story of her dolls called Tales of the Sisters Kane. She even produced a short film on one of her dolls called Callalilly which can be seen below. Do yourself a favor a check out this eerily peaceful little film. Scary daughter found it to be pretty scary. Each of her creations are original and one-of-a-kind and can be purchased at etsy.com. She also sells t-shirts and jewelry featuring photographs of her dolls. If you have an odd way of looking at life the way I do you will fall in love with the talent of this woman like I did.

The Pierced Wonder

Filexd under: Misc., Weird Stuff — Tags: , , — jane @ 8:05 pm

Pierced ManI’m not sure what to say about this guy. A reader sent this in to me, but I just can’t find where it came from originally. I have no problem with a few piercings, but I just look at this guy and think “ow!”. I wonder what would make you get so many piercings. I think maybe after the 25th piercing his brain started leaking out and he thought it was a good idea to keep going. What other reason could there possibly be?  Where in the world does this man work? I would assume he works from home because I can’t imagine too many people wanting to look at him day in and day out. Thanks Nerdygirl for sending this in. Keep sending these great photos in people because they are just a hoot!

“I had a bat hiding in my bra.”

Filexd under: Apparel, Misc., News/Articles, Weird Stuff — Tags: , , — jane @ 2:32 pm

Bat in my bra Here is a funny little article I found online from July of 2008 which was featured in the Metro.co.uk. I’m not sure what I would do if this happened to me, but I know I’d be pretty creeped out.

“Superhero fans know about the bat phone and the bat car, but how about the bat bra. That’s the gadget Abbie Hawkins seems to have invented, at least. The 19-year-old was amazed to discover vibrations through her body were caused not by her phone but by a bat in her underwear. The hotel receptionist realised the baby creature had hidden itself in the padding of her bra – and pulled it out for all to see. ‘It looked very snug in there and I thought how mean I was for disturbing it,’ she said. ‘I didn’t notice anything when I put my bra on. It had been on the washing line the day before. ‘When I was driving to work I felt a slight vibration but thought it was my phone.’ Miss Hawkins, from Norwich, plucked up the courage to investigate the unusual disturbance after five hours and pulled out the bat, which flew around the Holiday Inn at Norwich airport before being set free in the grounds. The Bat Conservation Trust said the mammals have been known to hide in coats, bags and umbrellas.”

Bat Lighting

Filexd under: Accessories, Decor, Lighting, kitchen — Tags: , , — jane @ 1:00 pm

Bat Pendant LightIn our new house I am not so happy with the lighting. We have slowly been replacing the lights as we find more funky and interesting ones. I have a large island in my kitchen where two very plain pendant lights hang over it. As I was looking around online I found the most perfect lighting ever! It is called a Sunset Pendant, though I have no idea why. Why not call it a Bat Pendant? I mean it does feature a very large bat on it! No reason to be logical I guess. You certainly wouldn’t want it to be easily found by the bat loving public such as myself would you? Anyway, they are so deliciously creepy that I went to click on ordering a pair and got the shock of my life! These amazingly cool light fixtures cost a whopping $1898.00 each! What the hell are they made of? I still covet them though. I wonder if I could talk Scary Hubby into spending that much. Probably not, but maybe just one for our entryway would do? Well, I’m off to grovel and beg…
