Mouse Trap Coffin

Filexd under: Misc.,Outdoors,Weird Stuff — Tags: , , — jane @ 8:35 pm

Everyone gets mice now and then. It has nothing to do with cleanliness and everything to do with where you live and what time of the year it is. I speak from experience. Our old house had the problem every winter. The fact that the house was more than 100 years old made it super easy for them to get in. The house we live in now is brand new and in a new area. Mice love it when you build where they live. Anyway, I’m always looking for a new way to get rid of mice. Or should I say Scary Hubby is. I try to stay out of it. It really creeps me out. I would love to use these however. Unfortunately these were designed by Sarah Déry as a student project and not actually available for sale. I think it’s genius and somebody should totally produce these for sale. I’d buy ‘em.

Dragon’s Claw Walking Stick

Filexd under: Accessories,Misc.,Weird Stuff — Tags: , , — jane @ 12:15 pm

Dragon's Claw Walking StickI’ve always had a thing for a man in top hat and tails with a walking stick. I even made Scary Hubby wear it when we got married. There is just something so romantic about it. I love a beautiful walking stick. I always figured that if I ever need one I’m going to put a lot of time and energy into finding the perfect one. Well, now I don’t have to. I found this Dragon’s Claw Walking Stick that would fit the bill perfectly. I’m just afraid it won’t be available if I ever need it. Makes me want to buy it now just in case or at least hurt myself so I need it now. Well, maybe not. It’s just so cool. It was worth a thought.

Black Diamond Wine Glasses

Filexd under: Bar,kitchen,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , , , — jane @ 12:21 pm

Black Wine GlassesI’ve always wanted black crystal wine glasses. The ones I usually find are quite boring with black stems or just plain glass with no ornament. I finally came across these great Black Diamond wine glasses. I found them at this really cheesy website called ABC Distributing, but they are really cool and better than anything I’ve seen. Trust me I’ve been looking for a long time.  They are really cheap at $10.95 for 4! Of course they are not crystal and actually just made of glass, but hey for that price who cares? Can’t you just picture me offering one of these glasses filled with blood to a new subject a la David in The Lost Boys?

Inside out Zombie

Filexd under: Apparel — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 5:56 pm

zombie tshirtAs usual today is T-shirt Tuesday. Normally I would feature a t-shirt that you could buy, but not this time. This Zombie t-shirt was a promotional t-shirt for Resident Evil that was given away in San Diego at Comic-Con. I was there, but unfortunately did not get to be one of the lucky ones that received this fantastic t-shirt. This t-shirt was just too cool not to show you. Hopefully if enough people talk about it somebody will come along and produce the shirt so we can all buy it. The t-shirt is pretty simple on the front and says, “Let your darkside out” with a creepy zombie image behind it. On the back is the Resident Evil graphic. As you lift the shirt over your head a zombie face appears and turns an otherwise normal t-shirt into a zombie costume. Lifting the shirt up this way also forces your arms into the standard zombie position! How amazingly cool is that? The only downside would be for us girls, though I’m thinking guys would disagree. I’m not sure I’d want to lift my shirt over my face just for a mask. Weren’t we taught as little girls never to lift our shirt over our heads? I guess you could wear a shirt under it. Either way I really want one and it sucks that you can’t buy them!

Climbing Gargoyle

Filexd under: Accessories,Art,Outdoors,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 7:21 pm

Climbing GargoyleA while back I saw a house with two of these climbing gargoyles climbing up the side of their house. I thought it was pretty cool at the time. I have never gotten around to getting a couple of them myself, but I think about it a lot. I’m really not sure why I havn’t done it, because it really is rather creepy. I think it may have to do with all of those movies about bugs that I used to watch on Saturday afternoons as a kid. You know the ones — Empire of the Ants, The Food of the Gods, The Swarm, and so on. The idea of things crawling up my walls is especially creepy to me. I’m thinking that putting a couple of climbing gargoyles on my walls is probably not the best idea. Especially when I tend to subscribe to the philosophy: why buy just one when you could buy 50.

Skull Stuff

Filexd under: Art,kitchen — Tags: , , , — jane @ 1:46 pm

Skull Sugar PotSomebody pointed me to this fun site called Pylones. They have all kinds of cool little funky gadgets that really tickle my funny bone. Of course there are just a few items that tickled my scary bone too! I especially love love love this sugar pot. I make coffee every night after dinner. I know, strangely I don’t drink coffee for breakfast. I just really look forward to it after dinner. Anyway I only use sugar and I have a little plastic container with sugar in it on the counter next to the coffee machine. It’s an ugly little thing and I would love to buy this scary little guy and have him there instead. Since my kitchen is black and white he’d fit right in. They have a bunch of other skull things as well, so check it out.

*Thanks Julie for the link!

Friday the 13th

Filexd under: News/Articles,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 12:18 pm

Friday the 13thCan you believe that I never noticed it was Friday the 13th yesterday? I usually look so forward to those days. They always talk about it on the news like it’s some huge event and people are convinced some horrible thing will happen. I enjoy that part of it, not really the day itself. I just think it’s a crack up that people put so much onto a number and a particular day. They made crap loads of those Friday the 13th movies just based on our irrational fear of that day! According to the Wikipedia entry there is no definitive answer as to where this came from. It seems to be mostly a 20th century superstition, but you can read more about it yourself here. If you do have a fear of that day maybe reading the entry will help you not be scared of it. I’m all for scary days, but in my life it’s just for fun. I don’t take it seriously as a couple of my readers seems to think. Lighten up people and enjoy life a little. Next time Friday the 13th comes around enjoy it for the silliness that it is. Now, I know if I don’t answer this I will be bombarded with emails, so yes I do like the movies and the second one is my favorite.

Dead Fred

Filexd under: Office,TV/Movies — Tags: , , , , — jane @ 4:44 pm

Dead FredEver get frustrated at work? Ever feel like stabbing your boss with a pen? I am my own boss and even I feel like doing that sometimes. I mean my boss is a total bitch. We all have days like that. Just some more than others. Who really cares about those dumb stress balls. They don’t work. Why don’t you picture yourself holding a pen and thinking about that dumb boss that just reminded you again about remembering to put the new cover sheets on the TPS reports (if you don’t get that reference then you should check out Office Space and see what a really stupid boss is like). Now wouldn’t it be nice to have a place to stab that pen into without worrying about going to jail? That’s what Dead Fred is for! He’s a little red silicone guy that’s actually a pen holder. You can stab that pen into his heart a hundred times and he won’t ever call 911. Just don’t yell out your boss’ name while doing it or it could get you fired.

Mori Ex Cacao

Filexd under: Food & Candy — Tags: , , — jane @ 6:02 pm

skull chocolatesI like millions of people get very excited about chocolate. I especially like really good dark chocolate. A Hersey bar just doesn’t do it for me. I mean I’ll eat it if nothing else is around when the desire strikes, but it doesn’t satisfy me. If Scary Hubby is going to buy me a box of chocolate he knows it has to be the best. Preferably Godiva Truffles. Today as I was searching around on the internet I came across something so exciting that my mouth just waters thinking about it. A chocolate company called Valerie Confections makes a chocolate collection called Mori Ex Cacao (Death by Chocolate). This isn’t just any old lump of chocolate either. These chocolates are shaped like skulls and come wrapped in a black silk box and ribbon. The three flavors include scorched caramel in milk chocolate, bitter brandied cherry inside white chocolate, and curious chili piped into dark chocolate. They aren’t cheap at $65.00 for a box of three large pieces, but I’m sure oh so worth it for a special occasion.

Skull USB Drive

Filexd under: Jewelry,Office,Storage — Tags: , , , , , — jane @ 5:41 pm

I’m not usually the tech geek in the family. I leave that stuff to Scary Hubby. Sometimes though I do come across things that melt our two loves together. This is a Skull USB Drive Necklace. This little guy is great. It’s a USB Flash Drive that holds 2GB of storage and a necklace! Two for the price of one. My big complaint about Flash Drives in general is that I am always losing them. They are so tiny. This one can just go around my neck and it looks just like a regular skull necklace. The little plug in thingy slides out, so there is no cover to lose, which is always a problem too. A lot of these cool little Flash Drives can be pretty pricey, but this one sells for only $22. Obviously at that price it’s not made out of platinum.  It may not be the nicest skull necklace you’ve ever owned, but it is cute and a great idea.
