Pierced Metal Lantern

Filexd under: Accessories, Lighting — Tags: , , , — jane @ 4:35 pm

Pierced Metal LanternWhile poking around in one of the cute little shops that I frequent I found this creepy little Pierced Metal Lantern. Well, okay so it wasn’t a quaint little shop with one of a kind items. It was Cost Plus World Market. But they have great stuff even if it is a national chain. Those one of a kind items tend to be expensive anyway. If you don’t have one of these stores in your city you are completely missing out. Luckily they do sell online. This lantern actually reminds me of the thurible thing that priests swing around in church carrying incense. It just has a creepyness to it that I like. I’m picturing it in a corner against very darkly painted walls like navy blue, purple or even a deep red. Come to think of it I think it would look really good in the corner of my guest bath where the walls are painted a deep blue. The light patterns would be fantastic. I have a thing for light patterns because they create spooky images and shadows. It’s all about ambiance people and this will give it to you.

Vampire Con 2009

Filexd under: Books, News/Articles — Tags: , , — jane @ 12:05 pm

Vampire Con 2009If you are a vampire worth your blood you were at the first Vampire Con in Hollywood this past weekend. If you weren’t, you are a loser and shall be stripped of all your vampire benefits! I was not there, but I am not a vampire, so I think I am okay. I’ve been to so many conferences this year that I thought I’d wait until next year to go. There were so many vampires at Comic-Con that I thought I had already been anyway. A quick little article about what kinds of things went on at the Vampire Con can be found here. The most interesting thing to come out of the conference was the announcement (also announced at Comic-Con) of the first sequel ever to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, called Dracula: The Undead. It was written by Dacre Stoker, Bram Stoker’s Great-Grandnephew, and screenwriter/ historian Ian Holt. It will be released on October 13, 2009. Overall, I think more vampires would have been there if all of the festivities had been held after dark. It’s not easy finding your way to the conference through the sewers in Hollywood. Not everyone can afford to have black limos with darkened windows deliver them to the front door!

Vampire Wine

Filexd under: Bar, TV/Movies — Tags: , , — jane @ 1:12 pm

Vampire WineI love a good bottle of rich red wine. Whether it be Merlot, Cabernet or Pinot Noir I’m drinking it. Actually any color wine I’m happy with. Well, to be honest almost any kind of alcohol makes me purr with pleasure. In small quantities of course. Anyway, I was recently served a bottle of wine at a friends house for dinner and I just loved it. Of course it didn’t hurt that it was called Vampire Wine and we all know how much I love vampires. I had the Cabernet, so I really can’t vouch for their other offerings, but it was delicious. It reminded me of that scene in the movie The Lost Boys when David gets Michael to drink wine from a bottle that turns out to be blood. You know everything always reminds me of a movie. Anyhow, I poked around on their website and they have a whole line of wines, beer, vodka, energy drinks and even coffee! You can order all of this online, but I have only been able to find the wine in one store so far. You should check out their website. It has some great links and even a fun backstory that is really worth a read. Be one of us and sip the blood of the vine!

Zombie T-Shirt

Filexd under: Apparel, TV/Movies — Tags: , , , — jane @ 10:47 am

Real friends help you kill zombiesWell, it’s T-Shirt Tuesday once again. This t-shirt says Real Friends Help You Kill Zombies. This is so true. I remember this one time when there was a whole group of us. We were all running away from a bunch of zombies. We were the only non-zombies left. We made our way to our local hangout the Winchester Arms and fought them all off as they kept coming at us. We helped each other kill the zombies and…wait a minute…I think that was a movie. Shaun of the Dead, I believe. Oh well, it felt real and it makes my point. Help your friends kill zombies and get this t-shirt to remind yourself.

My Name is Bruce

Filexd under: TV/Movies — Tags: , — jane @ 10:54 am

My Name is Bruce DVDI am a huge fan of Bruce Campbell as I would assume everyone is, right? He is a brilliant actor that makes all of his parts come to life. Time and time again he is passed up by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for mediocre actors such as Tom Hanks and Dustin Hoffman. These actors continue to do the same boring parts every year. Bruce Campbell challenges himself in original movies like Alien Apocalypse and Bubba Ho-tep. I finally got to see his recent masterpiece that he also directed called My Name is Bruce. Another incredible movie, but this time he plays himself. It is a must for any Bruce Campbell fan. There is a warning though. If you haven’t seen any of his movies you will not get most of the references in this film. Get out there and start renting them now! You’ll be amazed. The man is incredibly handsome and talented and I demand he get the recognition he deserves!

Creepy Cute Crochet bookQuite a few years ago I learned how to crochet and I got hooked! Ha! Bad pun intended. Anyway, I am always looking for creepy things to crochet and let me tell you there isn’t much. I end up making up my own patterns most of the time. Amigurumi, if you don’t already know, is the Japanese art of crocheting small stuffed animals and human like creatures. This book has patterns to create a zombie, vampires, chuthlu, aliens, a grim reaper, skeletons and many more. Now I have the perfect gift for Christmas! Who wouldn’t want to get a little grim reaper under their tree?

Purple Velvet Garbo Sofa

Filexd under: Furniture — Tags: , , — jane @ 11:17 am

Garbo SofaPurple can be deliciously creepy and cool if done correctly and I think this funky sofa does it. It does kinda bring to mind that old song, The Purple People Eater by  a guy named Sheb Wooley in 1958. Way before my time, but that song has been running through my head since I first saw this sofa. One eyed one horned flying purple people eater…  Anyway, it does actually fit in a way. The sofa is really big at 91″w x 36″D, but it’s available in a smaller version too. At that size it might actually swallow you up. It’s available in a huge range of fabrics, but I think velvet is the best choice personally. Velvet makes me purr. The best part is that it is on sale for $649 regular $1200, so stop reading this and go buy it!

RayD8 Mimobot USB Flash Drive

Filexd under: Office — Tags: , , , — jane @ 10:45 am

Mimobot Rayd80Okay, who doesn’t love a good computer gadget? This one is just too cool. This little RayD8 USB Flash Drive from Mimobot comes with a whole background story attached to him as apparently a lot of their gadgets do and…wait for it…they do Star Wars Flash Drives, too. Designed by Dino Alberto, this little guy continues the Mimobot back story of a refugee alien race of silicon robots stricken with amnesia, on an Earth mission to restore their lost minds. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to store your data on the unwitting time-traveler to help him generate the memergy necessary to synthesize another electro-time-bolt and bring him back to his own little spot in the chronosphere. Sounds easy enough, right? So, get out there and help him already!

Mac’sim Hair Salon Ad

Filexd under: Weird Stuff — Tags: , — jane @ 6:17 pm

I came across this and just had to post it. This was a series of print ads that ran in April of this year for Mac’sim Hair Salon in Romania done by the Propaganda Advertising Agency. Their website says it is under construction, but they show two ads on the page that are worth a peak. So, are these cool or what? The whole idea of your hair being your territory and this is your flag is great. I wish I could do that with my hair, I love to try new things. People get so worked up about their hair when they get a bad cut or color. I really could care less. Hair grows out so fast. Throw on a hat for a few days and your good.Hair Salon Ad 2Hair Salon Ad

Funky Frames

Filexd under: Accessories, Art — Tags: , — jane @ 1:17 pm

Do you have that weird item in the back of your closet that you’d like to display, but can’t quite figure out how to? I know I do. I collect weird things and always wanted to find a way to display them. I found this website called Frame Fetish that may just be the answer to all of our problems. Since 1999, Link David, has been producing the most amazing frames I have ever seen. Judging by his website he can do pretty much anything you want with a frame and some mat board. Seems like he’ll do any size or shape you want. The weirder the better! Why waste your time going to boring old frame shops when you could have this guy do your framing?Framed SkullFramed Tarot CardsFramed Apestein
